And yes, 3 weeks in almost, and the case hasn't brought anything new against BP. I was expecting some damning new evidence to prove GN, but so far, theres been nothing. BPs turn next, and all eyes point to GN and $1000 a barrel fine, on 4 million barrels, so 4 billion in fines, and then BPs ability to counter sue due to other parties also being found negligent. Lovely. Lets see where we are at in 6 months time :D

Hats off to Brian Gilvary, bp CFO for the hugely smart way he out witted the AAR guys in the tie up with ros. He is a super smart guy and is one to watch as a Bob replacement . It is beginning to look like all the baD news is factored into the sp right now and from my reading of it the trial does not seem to be introducing anything really new and damning that was not already in the public domine.
Whatme was rabbiting on About the BOP but my read was that was a Transoceanic issue around maintenance and not bp,s so another own goal for Sono.

(This all a matter of record before you all start bleating ... )

A faulty solenoid placed while BOP on rig, BP failing to register that the battery had not been changed for 3 years, and best of all ... BP then decides to 'foam' the cement(left over from a previous well and not designed to be 'foamed' ) to reduce its weight and whooaah!! add a DEFOAMING agent ... what more do you need ... you want cement failure? just do this ...

A document shown during his ( Rory Davis ) testimony indicated that the solenoid had been replaced in February 2010 "by unknown person. It appears this was done on the rig as the date was written in paint pin."

Other documents indicated that Cameron International, which supplied the blowout preventer, had sent notices to BP that the battery should be changed each year. Earlier testimony in the trial indicated it hadn't been changed since 2007.

Halliburton has acknowledged that it used the cement mixture under orders from BP, but did not test its stability before pouring it into the well. The Macondo well used a leftover cement blend. It was not originally designed as a foam cement!!!

Miller shows Halliburton docs indicating that defoamers are additives incompatable with foam cement.
Miller asks if BP approved use of defoamer.
Benge: yes, they were aware of that.

Maloo, EmperorNorton, thanks for replies, makes perfect sense.
As for the music, well, lets just say we all have different taste, however I can see the appeal if I have a few jars!
Thanks
