I predicted no change in divi. This is the second year that Jenkins has failed to raise the Divi, despite assurances to the contrary. It appears now, that his bank is just being run for the regulators . Shareholders are of little consideration and Jenkins does not appear to have the skills required to address the continually failing investment division. I fail to see why they are still retaining a part of the business that continues to lose substantial sums of money. If it isn't making profit, sell it or bring someone in with the ability to deliver a return to shareholders.I suspect that he is taking his bonus because he can see the writing on the wall. If this was any other company, you would probably bankrupt it and start again to get rid of the fine issue. Banks have a long history of not placing themselves before the interests of shareholders and Jenkins has demonstrated once again that nothing has changed at BARC. It will be a long long time before shareholders are rewarded I feel. You will note that he even suggests another 'unknown' law suit maybe in the offing ??
If you don't pay the staff, you loose them and unfortunately banking is a hi stakes game. If you make good money, there is always someone else who will pay you that bit more. It's frustrationg but that's why you never see a poor banker....just a load of underpaid shareholders! Our time will come when the fines are paid.
Small change in sentiment IMO. I still think the ratings are about right and I doubt any will be marked down. With the extra provisions, they could hardly increase the dividend! Still a good investment for me. I'm going nowhere....GLA
I thought (wrongly) that companies reward the owners of a company and then the staff in that order !! Perhaps I have my thinking wrong ? I sold half my holdings this morning and was very tempted to sell the lot I along with many others on this site have been extremely loyal to Barclays but it's in the public and media mindset to whip the Banks all you read and here are fine the banks, split the banks up , and now Nick Clegg saying Banks should be levid every year !! Do these clowns not know they are fining the poor shareholders and in that the Pension Funds !! I still hold 53 k shares and hope things do come right but I will not be holding my breath .
