If you don't pay the staff, you loose them and unfortunately banking is a hi stakes game. If you make good money, there is always someone else who will pay you that bit more. It's frustrationg but that's why you never see a poor banker....just a load of underpaid shareholders! Our time will come when the fines are paid.
Small change in sentiment IMO. I still think the ratings are about right and I doubt any will be marked down. With the extra provisions, they could hardly increase the dividend! Still a good investment for me. I'm going nowhere....GLA
I thought (wrongly) that companies reward the owners of a company and then the staff in that order !! Perhaps I have my thinking wrong ? I sold half my holdings this morning and was very tempted to sell the lot I along with many others on this site have been extremely loyal to Barclays but it's in the public and media mindset to whip the Banks all you read and here are fine the banks, split the banks up , and now Nick Clegg saying Banks should be levid every year !! Do these clowns not know they are fining the poor shareholders and in that the Pension Funds !! I still hold 53 k shares and hope things do come right but I will not be holding my breath . Best Of Luck To All Investors Keep Smilling
The only thing expected about this share is the unexpected. The so called experts on the radio this morning were saying they were a good set of results. My opinion is this share will trade between £2.00-£2.60 this year. CEO mindset is customer first, then staff and then shareholders. He can only cut costs so far and no positive policies on increasing income going forward. There is a lot that can go wrong in the next 12 months. Fines /compensation the great unknown. European QE will only work if the banks lend. If no one wants to borrow or the banks are risk averse it wont work. Change of government will mean more bank bashing. A very good chance of a Lab/SNP and or Lib coalition. ALL the UK banks chasing the same business evidenced by Barclaycard offering a 3 year 0% balance transfer. All the above factors will not help this share. Fall in FTSE or Dow Jones both at record levels will have a negative impact. We are in for a day traders dream There are too many negatives ahead for £3.00+ in my opinion. Bad news for long term holders. Looks like I am in for the dividend Anything over £3.50 come 6th April and I am out at break even level. Sorry to be negative to the positive posters but i feel this is the reality check.
