Telegraph report Retail stalwart John Allan could be unveiled as Tesco’s new chairman as early as this week. Mr Allan, the deputy chairman of electrical retailer Dixons Carphone, is said to be the sole candidate for the high-profile post at the nation’s biggest grocer, which is looking to rebuild its position after losing customers to rival discounters and suffering an accounting scandal last year. Under stock market regulations, Tesco will have to make an announcement once a new chairman has been appointed, which could be as soon as this week – although there can be no certainty that Mr Allan will receive the board’s backing. Sir Richard Broadbent signalled his intention to stand down as Tesco chairman in October last year, following pressure from shareholders in the wake of a £263m accounting scandal, but did not set a leaving date. Mr Allan looked to be the last man standing in the search for the new chairman of the FTSE 100 grocery giant after his rival for the role, Ian Cheshire, former chief executive of B&Q-owner Kingfisher, withdrew from the race.
well we will c in time, they can't all go down otherwise i would top load on the big ones only, and the only real ones going bust are the shale gas comps in usa. therefore common sense says go all in oil, well at least 205 of ones funds split into diff comps. OP already started going up, took 6months to go down no reason why cannot go up in same time. only matter of time b4 investments pay off, jump on the gravy train while u can!
Steph, you are too modest! As you say, your analytical skills are second only to your looks & purse... It had occurred to me that perhaps most companies in the Oil sector would be unable to make a profit with the POO at current levels, but I bow to your superior acumen. Bonsoir, Cherie :-*
it does not matter to me if AFR goes under, i will not care since i am heavy invested in a number of oil companies and building up more and more adding all the time, they can't all go bust! few might but few will boom and others might stay as they are and still others double or treble. once i have invested all that i want to invest in oil i will attack another sector then you can follow me there ;-)
