missing the point here chaps .... it's not about thieves it's about the faulty infrastructure and procedures .... the self service tills don't flag up tags leading to unnecessary embarrassment of customer and staff ..... not good ..... and the poor staff only have a split second as the item is scanned to firstly identify which till then chase the customer to the door .... a small change to the software would fix this .... why has it not been done? it's been 2 months since I bought the shirt and thought at the time it was a one off
This is a big problem people thieving, guess in ideal world no thieves and no tags. Pass on savings to customers.
Think the clothes lines have improved, also lots of £1 buys like asda. My local store has also introduced new bakery which is run by outside company!! "Very good". Also entrance use to have smoking area next to children's rides and cashpoint which was very off putting being a parent
They seem to be buying up all the empty pubs and turning into shops near me.
Yes but it's not new. Bought a WD passport drive a coupla years ago and it was de-tagged but still set the door alarm off so went back for a re-check and then it set the alarm off again. I was pretty irate and demanded the manager. He was hardly apologetic. Then on Sunday tried on a pair of cheap jeans, a bit short so I bought a slightly more expensive pair with longer leg w/o trying on. We were doing scan-as-you-drop and had tagged alcohol which the assistant sorted but didn't look at the jeans. On leaving the shop the alarm sounds and it turns out they'd tagged an £18 pr of jeans! The £10 pr I tried on - no tag. All that for £8? Doesn't enhance your shopping experience. I guess they get a lot of thieves.
yes mike I do .... it's all research as is asking staff about their experience of working to the firm. I ask the wife where she prefers to shop and take note of where she actually shops for various items (Sainsburys since they now deliver in our area ... we only have Tesco in our town but we have found the food is not great especially fruit and veg)
it's all research and I think embarrassing customers is a particularly serious issue of late .... even more serious is faulty or deliberately wrongly priced items. I've had several occasions where the items are marked at one price but the checkout adds money on to the bill. .... check it out for yourself and pay attention to the buy 2 offers ... they don't always check out properly.
anyone have issues with security tags not flagging up on the self service tills then you go to walk out and get an embarrassing toot activated by the tag . this has happened to me twice although the first time I didn't know about the tag until I got to the function I bought the shirt for.... I was in a hurry when I bought the shirt and didn't hear the buzzer, if it went off, as I bolted out the door. they wouldn't have caught me anyway . (took it back the next day to get the tag off) Same thing happened today although I happened to notice the tag on a small electrical item as I was about to walk to the door and asked an assistant to remove it. I asked 2 assistants about the till not flagging the tag up on the screen and stopping the transaction but was told it doesn't flag up small items with tags but an almost inaudible buzzer goes off on the light tower 6ft above the till as the item is scanned (so just for a split second ... and the assistants are supposed to hear this guess which till it came from, which is impossible as the buzzer is heard at every tower for any till.)
Also I was talking to the charity workers at the door who say it's a very common occurrence about 10 times an hour resulting in another very embarrassed customer.
If Tesco want to lose trade this is an ideal way to go about it. how hard would it be to have the self service tills flag up every tag??????
We shop at Tesco all the time as we have a life time 10% off and we have noticed some things are cheaper than Lidl already so price reduction is already in progress plus up to 20p a litre off fuel every month and plus points discount every quarter and money off coupons on things we previously purchased and free parking with no fear of a parking ticket and as the saying goe's every little helps
On drugs, thanks I would like to think it would be the full10.13p but somehow I think it will be lowered.we will have to see what happens when Dave lowers prices next year to compete with the discounters.
