So there is one person here who agrees with me. As do apparently about 50 million Germans. This article is required reading. Inter alia the new Greek finance minister is quoted as saying "the eurozone will be toast within 2 years". Re the fascist Franco the new foundation has caused outrage in Spain following the huge grant from the conservative government. Many of the ordinary people suffered greatly under this dictator. He was only supported by the yanks because he was so anti communist. Hasta la vista. Ma viva l'Italia. Qui e viva fantastico ma pazzo.

In the latest spanish opinion poll IU is level pegging with 25%. Hardly makes them irrelevant! Ukip would love to have that much. I did not know Franco was still so popular. Still in Italy 1000 people visit Mussolini's tomb daily. You really are living in a Utopian dream.

...spain has 2 main political parties...all others are irrelevant..spain went through civil war...many of the old folks have good memories of general franco...who instituted the monarchy...they are not going to fall for the greek swan song...

The caffeine is potent so mind yourself. I appreciate the rate is suiting you very nicely, too nicely maybe, enjoy it and help your poor Euro neighbours.

I do agree re rise in sentiment - pro Europe parties will need to become a lot more effective in face of anti Europe sentiment.

We had an insight during the week as to what the market makes of any potential Grexit i.e. Greek shares plummet 30% and EZ stocks only dip 3/4%

Morgan Stanley had a probability of 17% on 7th Jan of the event occurring whereas UBS said it was left at less than 5% at the time (Wall St Journal). Says it all really.....

What do you mean it is a long way down for investors in £? Living in Italy the 1.33 exchange rate is suiting very nicely making already cheap groceries even cheaper. In the little market on Saturdaybought 5 delicious gala apples home grown for 80 cents. With deflation our wonderful morning coffee ( nowhere better in the world) and pastry is still €2.1 same as 18 months ago. However businesses closing right left and centre. The economy is shot. The new president looks promising though and keenly anti Mafia. His brother was killed by them.

The one good thing is that it is a small country. If it went it will make very little difference. But is is encouraging Spain which is not small. The new anti eu and very left wing party is gaining huge support. There is another one starting in Germany. Marine Le Pen getting huge support in France. And all this will now help UKIP n our election. Can you seriously envisage snp holding sway in the UK. Sadly they look like doing just that - in the FIRST of the 2015 general elections

"So wheather they stay or are mad enough to go the markets will very quickly get over it. I don't think it will be the disaster some seem to think and I am sure it will not be the end of the euro. Its here to stay."

Couldn't agree more with you John.
