Because we are American Family, and are here to protect the Land of the Free and our Brave Heroes, we want to make sure you were not being harrassed by a cup-wielding poor guy at the lights before you were terrified into whipping out your Magnum. The onboard camera recording can also be used in court to protect your freedom to carry arms and make sure Obama's Friends aren't trying to use you as a car-bomb. If, however, you wish to forego this protection, we need to ensure that the heightened risk to our Brave Nation is covered. Please add another $500 to the premium.
Apologies for the irony. It's Friday and I'm a conspiracy theorist ;-)
Where I disagree with you is when you say: 'Interesting, I am not sure I can see it taking off (the camera element), I don't mind telematics watching me by GPS, I wouldn't want my insurance company to know I was driving naked and texting while the crash happened.'
Unfortunately in the 21st century, I honestly believe that extreme access to information/monitoring/behaviour is already pretty-well ubiquitous. I only see it becoming even more invasive.
To take your example above, the insurers will, within 5 years, be saying: Mr Noise....your policy will cost you £500 per annum because you are using telematics which helps us to reduce your insured risk. If you don't want that, we completely understand, and can offer you a policy for £1500 per annum. By the way.....try going elsewhere, sir.
Oh and we forgot to mention: we know you dont drive naked, however we do also know that a large proportion of accidents are caused by a lack of driver care AND/OR fatigue. Our on-board camera help to protect YOU by providing confirmation of what excellent attention you always show at the wheel. Of course, we would never dream of co-ercing you to accept this extra service. If you wish to also remove the camera, please cimply add £300 per annum to the £1500 non-telematics premium.
...................and of course there is NO such thing as collusion by providers......not at all....*cough* *cough*
i suppose I came out of the shorting attack pretty much the same as when I went in, but some still want an argument even when there is none to be had anymore... You're ironically so bored none of your post mentioned qpp, you should be thankful I have given you a reason to write a post GLA
