The way I read this section is that they have probably received a low ball offer and wanted to open it up to a wider audience.

Yeah Bradis, I ask myself that very same question... why now... if you read part of the chairmans statement in the last report:

The way forward
The planned further development of the Petišovci project and the diversification into other regional projects is not an option currently available to the Company without potentially significant dilution for shareholders.
Doing nothing is not an attractive option, although in a previous era it would have been the choice of boards less interested in maximising shareholder value.
We have received several expressions of interest from industry players interested in working with us to allow the development of the Company as indicated above. These include farm-outs and general strategic partnerships. These are at an early stage and time will tell if any bear fruit.
Rather than wait for these or other options to materialise, we have decided to take a proactive approach and initiate a Strategic Review in conjunction with GMP FirstEnergy, an independent advisory firm with extensive energy sector expertise. Our purpose in this is to identify a partner to work with us to maximise opportunities to develop our existing assets to their fullest potential and, as appropriate, other assets in the region.
By so doing we expect to maximise the chances of a deal with a long-term partner to the benefit of all Ascent shareholders.

Basically... it could all be bluff... but CC states that they have received expressions of interest... maybe this SR was formalise that interest, with or without the permits!! Anyway, it's ongoing... so we will see I guess?

Agreed. Lack of IPPC is the major obstacle for a takeover bid. I’m sure potential offerors have had their hands burned elsewhere on licensing issues.

That said, I am curious as to the timing of the SR. Why now? Surely AST has a weak hand with no IPPC... so much we’re in the dark about here.

Cannot help but feel that the lack of permits, for having to deal with Slovenian bureaucracy, is a major stumbling block when it comes to attracting interest in AST? I mean, wasn't it Clive himself who said he "expected interest to firm up" once the IPPC was awarded?? Any company taking on Slovenia and it's snails-pace protocols, will have a major job on it's hands. IF we get the IPPC and well rework permits, we will be soooo much more attractive to investors. Let's hope they arrive.. soonest. Fingers crossed for us all. 200m euro asset awaits purchaser... :)

SR would be quick and clear.
DT is someone everyone can complain about , which in essence means he is absolutely normal.
One can build good image of victim or do business with no risk of being sued for anything.

parkeg, i said i agree with you on the people that post crap. BUT it's CH's own fault as he has exposed himself and the AST to this with his own behavior, wrong assumptions on timelines he has no control over, calling AST the predator instead of the prey etc. If all of that didn't happen, those people wouldn't have the ammunition to run those jokes and people that "invested their hard earned money into AST" would probably not need to listen to it. So it comes down to the mismanagement of CH.

It is clear AST would have been bought by now if someone was really interested.
Wonder what is the next course of action? Dilution seems to be certain unless IPPC lands and bid comes within or after SR..

So you are happy for these mongrels to lie and general mislead people so they can have a little joke, about a company genuine people have invested tbeir hard earned money into?

They need challenging and I make no excuse for doing so, it's seems obvious they have no vested interest here.

Dear Mr. Trump ...
Wed 13:30
If the Donald was completing an SR ... I wonder what it would look like ...

I don't always agree with his policies, but one must admire his ego and direct language.

“Germany is a captive of Russia” because of the oil and gas issue, Mr. Trump said. “I think it’s something that NATO has to look at.”

Mr. Stoltenberg countered that “despite differences,” NATO was about uniting “to protect and defend each other.”

But Mr. Trump shrugged off the collective defense principle, saying, “How can you be together when a country is getting its energy from the country you want protection against?”

parkeg, agree with you on the crap that is posted. However, CH has put himself more than once in a position to be the laughing stock and the reason for jokes. The difference between him and other CEO's might just be that the asset is actually worth something... Can you imagine what happens if that turns out to not be the case and he has misled shareholders there as well? We shall find out soon as if there is no offer, even a low ball offer, out of the SR, it means there is something wrong with the asset.

You really have to trust in your research and investment rationale at times like these otherwise what are you doing here? Asset plays can be undervalued for many years until someone comes along who can develop it. I believe we’re close to finding out who that person is. All IMHO.

Bradis , you are correct. Not one pi should follow because of what he said or what she said. Follow your own research and gut feeling. Low volume spread as big as drop, smells of mm looking for shares but i may be wrong. Iam underwater but believe we will get some kind of deal to get more gas out of the ground. GLA

Monarch.

I don't think he's an angel, he doesn't do himself or any shareholders a great credit, but some of the **** being made up here by people who have no interest is beyond a joke.
If people are going to write such fiction, I have a right to knock them back or challenge them. None of these nonsense posters have a clue what they are talking about, none ever post any links in way of supporting what they write. They just spend their days writting rubbish with no real interest or knowledge of this company. If they were so interested why didn't they turn up at the AGM? Well, they'd have to have shares to do that and they don't.

The same old crap posts from the same people day in day out, if you are happy with that then that's fine, I'm bored with that ****.

RE: INA’S DATA ROOM!....
Wed 10:39
We know KKCG(MND), Rosneft and Castleton Commodities International (CCI) are all interested in MOL’s stake in INA it will be interesting to see who else maybe too!...?....

KKCG could certainly do with some gas for that Methanol Plant, how many millions to date has that plant cost him being out of operation???... And his MND operation could certainly bring some valuable well drilling experience into the equation!.... My favourite to date for both INA and Ascent anyway for what its worth!...;-)

The saying "follow the money" is/was so apt here, when Hendo's was selling (with Colin's help) we all should have done the same, I know some did (the clever ones) but most held hoping for greater rewards, it has been a lesson that I will never forget.
