Morning all
Today 08:20
Haven't looked at share price for a week and looks like I haven't missed anything! Interesting to see we may have news on Friday, I would have expected an increase in share price by a few pence if good news was expected before it happened but I guess you never know with AVN. Also worth pointing that we are all expecting good news, without any evidence I guess!
Also the ballon story is very interesting, right now I feel like I have already invested n a ballon with a great big hole in it but hey ho! Lets hope we get great news and put a patch on the hole for a while. GL

Too true. However, if they decided to use Hylas to link the data between the balloons together that's fine in my book.
On a separate subject, iii are still showing AVN as reporting on Friday. Last time it was taken off the website by now so you never know.......GLA

Think its marvelous that they've chosen to fund a kids science project like that and in our field too!!! It's clearly just that though and is a google gimmick designed to show that they're bigger and better than just search n android. How better to show that than copy our very own dear old richard branston pickle!! :) Seriously though, coverage of internet in remote areas beamed down like magic from above has to do some good for us. Flimsy expensive balloons that have to be disposable by nature and drift off in the wind into the way of commercial air traffic are never gonna take off. Perhaps a stationary solar powered UAV that can hover forever maintaining station might be an answer but even that still is a hazard to Aviation. It doesn't solve the line of sight issue either unless hundreds are launched like super expensive mobile phone repeater masts and then you have a serious skynet and a super serious aviation hazard. Can't see that being funded for Africa. Much easier to just use good ole Hylas 1, 2 and 3 and let google play with the kids class science projects. GLA news soon.... :)

I predicted this 2 weeks ago in a post here .
Would be the right man at the helm to deal with merger / takeover in next 1-2 years

would agree, watch out for that gush of wind! that balloon serving africa is now over new york...
anyway, i'm quite excited by this. It's only through successful current broadband offering to remote areas and a remaining high demand that this sort of project would of got off the ground (excuse the pun).

Just had a look at the Google balloon thing and it all looks a bit Mickey Mouse to me . Carried around the stratosphere by winds ....? Sounds to me like your connection would be dropped every few seconds. Can't see businesses, military or phone companies wanting to use balloon technology personally.

Nothing to do with the SP drop. AVN is doing the same as virtually all AIM shares when there's been no news to prop it up. I'm sure there will be lots of competing tech over the coming years, but none of it will be ready for a fair old time yet.

Have to join you with your concern. It did raise an eyebrow with me. Do you think this may be one of the reasons AVN share price is retracing at the mo? Maybe we need to send Baumgarten up there again with a big pin!
Paul Walsh as Avanti Chairman?
Sun 11:03
Sunday Times today in the business section "Drink wizard Walsh to chair caterer Compass.
City sources say that Paul Walsh is also tipped to become AVN chairman, repacing the long serving John Brackenbury.
RE: Avanti business model?

Think I would be more concerned that Hylas 3 could be struck by an abandoned Google balloon upon launch than it would being a threat to their business model.
