Gaz du Cameroun (GDC), a VOG subsidiary, is planning to start drilling before the end of the third quarter, with the programme due to complete by the end of the year.

Onshore oil drilling
Two wells are being drilled to help VOG satisfy demand.

Victoria Oil & Gas plc (LON:VOG) is preparing to start new drilling operations in Cameroon, as a rig has now arrived at the port in Douala.

The rail-mounted rig arrived at Douala, the nearest City to VOG’s Logbaba plant and gas field, along with 2,756 tonnes of bulk load and containers. The equipment has been offloaded and is ready for customs clearance. The new well site is some 12 kilometres from the port.

Gaz du Cameroun (GDC), a VOG subsidiary, is planning to start drilling before the end of the third quarter, with the programme due to complete by the end of the year.

It is planned that GDC will drill two wells in the Logbaba gas field to supplement the two existing production wells. The wells are being drilled to help GDC meet demand for gas, and as such both are expected to be tied into the production facilities immediately after completion.

Ahmet Dik, VOG chief executive, said: “The drilling rig has arrived in Douala port and we plan to commence drilling at the Logbaba site as soon as practicable.

“Our intention is to complete both the step-out and twin wells during 2016 aimed at unlocking further reserves and production capacity for sale to the burgeoning energy market in Douala.

“Additional gas reserves can be rapidly monetised to supply our captive energy market which we believe is largely insulated against fluctuating oil price and currency movements."

sorry, OT, I prefer the timelines and accountability - even if there are legit excuses.

Dik is/was a lawyer - dosn't mean much I know - but it is clear he will fudge timelines to your liking. He uses the classic "soon as practical" in his statement. Means nothing. That should suit you sir.

Well I guess we can all say at least and at last the rig has got there although we all know about customs ?
OK we might have drilled the wells by year end but I do wish the bod would learn from past mistakes and NOT put any time targets on any projects because when they don't hit them we all know what happens to the sp.
Now we are all assuming that we find gas from these drills but what if.?
Anyway that's enough of being negative lets look forward to some / any good news from the AGM.

time for under review to cease and a view to be taken. finger in the air stuff anyway. with matanda asset added an increase in target price is a must. then, post drills, proper accounting for the enlarged 1P and, hopefully, new big power contracts, would rerate the SP proper.

of course we know the RNS was coming today. Otherwise what would the BOD say at the AGM? Nothing.
How do they justify pay while the rig was at sea for 6 months? With Matanda on hold, no CNG, no other countries, m no Werst Med sale, no JV, no contract renewals... did they sit around playing French boules for 6 months? The BOD could have printed some flyers and door dropped every business and home in Cameroon in that time - even as a brand awareness measure.
