Hi mate, good that you're still here, your cheery outlook helps us stay positive. lol
You're right 12 looks like fantasy, I could have told you that the plan was over-egged months ago and Keith and others also realised - you should have asked.
I was disappointed with their sales growth forecast when they released the RNS, it was not that impressive IMO, their rate of conversion of commercial clients has been appalling, and though they have never admitted it I believe it's down to the low oil price and the perception of companies that there was no need to rush as oil prices (and so HFO) might collapse again.
However, the world is changing, the Arabs have realised the game is up and no longer wish to do battle with US shale because we have a new US administration which will take their own action to protect US producers if they continue to flex their muscles.
Trump, apparently, doesn't believe in global warming and is pro hydrocarbon energy production, oil is headed up IMO and all green initiatives slowed, although it is a slow process and on a global scale it will have an impact on VOG's attractiveness as a local supplier, not least because to the removal of fear of escalating prices - things a looking much better for sales growth.
I feel my investment in the future of the planet is now in greater jeopardy but the prospects for investment in VOG shares is greatly improved.
Back to your post oldtimer, I believe there will be some, not 12 and I would point out Mr Foo and his PR are careful never to promise anything so the company will claim victory even if 1 or 2 connect, weasily words like "envisage", "targeted" "should" are always included, never a definitive "will". As I have pointed out previously, VOG planning is very poor with no published schedule or key dates which allows them to claim success having failed.
Chin up though, everything is looking much better this Christmas
i dont thin that it is either here or there what Messages we get from the bod regarding the future i would be surprised if anyone here thought that we would have twelve new customers on line for christmas or that the two wells would be drilled by Christmas when i was Building for private customers i could always give a schedule and stick to it by taking possible Problems into my schedule i always came out in front, result customers i contracted to were well happy followed by more orders, simple i would sooner get a message from the bod saying mid April and succeding than saying end of year and failing the bod,s way causes mistrust and nothing else if the 11,s trusted the bod ,they would be in
Well only 26 days minus Christmas and other non working days, so say 20 working day to go to fill Foo's promise to connect 12 new customers by end of December. I think there is FAT chance of that being achieved don't you?
Apparently he wants to lay pipes in Nigeria to supply gas to industry, a new initiative or perhaps he's seen it elsewhere in Africa! The article suggests the plan is to spend $3bn - that's an awful lot of money, buying VOG would be peanuts to him even at triple the current SP. If it's worth spending $3bn on a 540km pipeline to transport gas to industry then I would suggest VOG's "IN CITY" network in extremely valuable and Matanda onshore could prove be have been a brilliant buy. VOG are street's ahead of everyone else in the region with a network in a major city, it will take others years to get to that stage
Someone posted recently about him backing out of as pipeline planned for Cameroon, perhaps he see's an opportunity elsewhere as the market for supplying an area comprising 50% of the countries demand in sewn up be the de facto (only) Cameroon gas utility.
Extract: "(Ecofin Agency) - In Nigeria, Dangote Group intends to launch a project to build a 540-kilometer pipeline linking the Niger Delta with the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos and Which will cost $ 3 billion.
The information was reported on Wednesday to the press by Dr Abdul Muktar, the head of strategy for the group, at the annual energy sector round table organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lagos (LCCI). The conduit aims to transport three billion cubic meters of gas to its commissioning in 2019.
According to the official, this project is vitally important to the Nigerian economy as it will provide quality and affordable energy to the manufacturing industry and enable the country to focus less on oil and the gas. "The need to focus on the manufacturing sector is paramount,"...... before, he said the difficulties of access to energy is one of the major factors preventing The emergence of a strong manufacturing industry.
Moreover, although Nigeria is a major gas producer, it lamented that the biggest problem in the electricity sector in Nigeria is the unavailability of gas.
Finally, he reiterated the Dangote Group's determination to be the leader of the energy sector in the country.
Last January, Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote (photo) announced plans to invest in infrastructure to triple domestic gas consumption in Nigeria.
We are due news on come connection, should be a steady stream of them now the pipeline stretches all across the city and out into the big industrial sector. Although they may well save the announcements up for the quarterly update
The case for connecting to the pipeline becomes more compelling now OPEC have signalled they've had enough of shipping cheap oil, I guess some of them have probably been dragging their heels on actually converting.
WRT ENEO, at the beginning of September they installed a second transformer at Bonaberi which doubled the transmission capacity of the station - I suspect that as soon as VOG have something to sell ENEO will sigh up for more gas and probably convert the HFO gensets at Bonaberi to gas.
Irrespective they will get less downtime at the station (according to them) which surely equates to more gas usage.
They said in their September press statement:
"The installed power transformer doubles the transit capacity of the substation.
The operation improves the reliability of the structure. The availability of two transformers at Bonabéri now allows reducing response times in that infrastructure in case of failure. It offers the ability to connect other clients to the network. "
