RE: Recent Holiday

Yes you can say that again , WORRYING TRENDS from TC. You may of read my previous post regarding our flights with TC to Dalaman and back. We have since been paid £700 by TC for the delay. We have today been in touch with friends of ours who ( like us ) flew from Manchester to Dalaman and return with TC and who themselves have just been paid £350 each for flight delay. Their return flight from Dalaman to Manchester was 5 hours late in departing , the reason given by TC being that the aircraft had to be REFUELLED!! That is all they were told!! About an hour into the return flight the flight crew announced that the flight would have to land at Stanstead and not Manchester because the flight crews working hours limit would not cover the extra distance to Manchester. They were told that coaches would be at Stanstead to transport them to Manchester. On arrival at Stanstead there was only one member of TC staff and chaos ensued. There were in fact no coaches but TC had organised 70 taxis for transport to Manchester. Yes a very worrying trend that is becoming more and more regular and all the money being lost in compensation and logistics coming out of TC profits. What a farcical company TC is becoming!! There is no wonder true investors are not interested in TC.

Recent Holiday
Today 15:41
Just returned from a TCG holiday in Turkey, overall holiday was fine but some worrying trends with TCG. Firstly the holiday was booked last July so 11 months before travelling, paid £90 for extra leg room seats. Flight times changed three times before we travelled on the last notification of time change I noticed the seat allocation had changed therefore I checked and we no longer had extra leg room seats, I phoned TC and after some debate was refunded my £90. I would have preferred the extra leg room seats and if I hadn't noticed and rung them I doubt I would have even been given the refund. Arrived at the hotel with my wife, son in law, daughter and four year old grand daughter to find my wife and I had been moved to another hotel in an "upgrade" this hotel was in the same complex but was over sixteens only meaning my our grand daughter could not come to our room. Not a disaster I know but when you have booked 11 months in advance to make sure you get just what you want its a bit disappointing when everything changes.

In addition to these problems on the transfer from airport to hotel the coach broke down, there wasn't a TC rep on the coach and some people were asked by the coach driver to walk the short distances to their hotels, as ours was a distance off we had to wait for a replacement coach, which in fairness only took 20 mins.

RE: Book Thomas cook fly with easyjet !

Yes TC have this arrangement in place to increase capacity which makes good business sense. This is OK if the flight you book is the flight you get but when TC substitute a TC flight with an Easyjet flight with totally different flight times at the detriment to the traveller then that is not acceptable and bad business sense. I think that is the point Monet208 is making.

Can't say I've really had any issue with Thomas Cook. Only bought their offerings & always had good service & decent holidays.

That said we tried Jet2 last year, but never again. Holiday was fine but customer service from them as an airline was awful. Never again.

I remember one year the Captain helped us off the plane through to passport control with one of our suitcases because we had our lad in a wheelchair. Now that's customer service.

That arrangement has been in place since the start of 2017. It allows TC to increase capacity, without the incumbent risk of payouts in the event of flight delays, cost of maintaining aircraft etc.

Book Thomas cook fly with easyjet !
Mon 09:06
Speaking to a fellow holiday maker in Tenerife who booked a package holiday with TC from Edinburgh
Told later flight now with Easyjet and awful flight times compared to the TC original booked ones
Only able to select seats 2 weeks before when sent a code to do so
This holidaymaker will never book with TC again
Anyone else heard of this underhand treatment by TC ??

RE: Tcg vs Tui

No never had Tui shares. I have had Tcg shares for a long time , ever since they tied up with My Travel and i have topped up at various points along the way. Just making a constructive observational comparison between the two companies

Tcg vs Tui

Tui are definitely the favoured choice for investors at the moment. Still think that massive Tcg debt is a big issue for prospective investors.

Not sure why you think it's only TC this happens to. That's a bit naive to say the least. All airlines suffer from delays to varying degrees for varying reasons. When it happens though it's very annoying and frustrating if your the one it affects.

"Tui has apologised after holidaymakers faced a 31-hour flight delay to return to Aberdeen from Majorca.

The flight from Palma was due to depart on Saturday evening but did not leave until the early hours of Monday.

A Tui spokesman said the flight was delayed as a result of an earlier delay to the aircraft operating the route.

One passenger told the BBC: “At one point it looked like we were abandoned and might have been there another night. Happy we are all home.”

Others complained on social media about a lack of information about what was happening.

The Tui spokesman added: “We would like to apologise to customers on the delayed flight TOM1665 from Palma to Aberdeen.

“Customers were provided with all-inclusive hotel accommodation and welfare at the airport.”"

But it's only big bad TC that this happens to, huh?

Yes I'm confident they will have a good maintainable surge at some point, it's just taking longer than i expected. The surge in fuel pricing dosnt help in the short to medium term though.

Hi
that's a big difference but I think TC is a turn around share so one day it might be TC that's gains 50% and TUI 18% decrease would be nice

8 hrs with 2 kids could have been a nightmare but we got through it ok, in a weird way I quite like airports, I think it's the anticipation and excitement of going away. Also the thought of the compensation helped me keep my sanity!!!
I'm sure there will be occasions when they do try and fit in other flights to maximise the planes usage this makes good business sense and is all well and good as long as it does not affect the planes safety or other people's people's holidays. I can't see them taking many risks with this as continued delays will create unwanted bad press and be negative in the long term. All said, we may both just have been very unlucky with technical issues.

Wow 8 hours. 6 was bad enough. Isn't it horrible being confined in an airport just waiting and wanting to be off. What do you think of my cynicalism as regards thinking whether they are not being honest and the real reason for the delay was rescheduling by the companies to fit in more flights and taking the compensation hit for their own ends. I'm probably being too suspicious.

2 weeks ago I went to Mallorca with TUI (yes I felt a bit of a traitor as I have been a Tcg holder for years) and had an 8hr delay at Manchester. It was also due to plane breakdown. Your experience and treatment was very bad and was even more unlucky as you had problems both ways and you should vent your frustration with TCG. I have flown with TC many times and never had any issues. Don't give up on them as you say the holiday itself was great so they are getting most things right. Also, regarding the compensation claims, these claims make no financial impact on the company in any way as the amounts involved are minuscule compared to turnover etc. they will also have insurance cover for these issues. Keep the faith.
P.s. My claim is in with TUI
