Rio Tinto Share Ownership Plan ('SOP')
Rio Tinto plc was notified today that on 10 May the following persons discharging managerial responsibilities ('PDMRs') purchased ordinary shares in Rio Tinto plc, and were allocated the same number of shares free of charge ('matching shares') under the SOP. This was a non-discretionary transaction.

The SOP is an HMRC approved Share Incentive Plan under which qualifying UK employees are able to purchase ordinary shares of 10p each in the Company out of monthly deductions from salary and are allocated an equivalent number of matching shares.
