Issue of Equity

The board of Securities Trust of Scotland plc (the "Company") announces that on 20 August 2012 it issued 250,000 new ordinary shares in the Company at 127.75 pence per share. The shares were issued at a premium to the prevailing net asset value. These shares will rank pari passu with the existing ordinary shares in issue.

It is expected that the new ordinary shares will be admitted to listing on the Official List of the UK Listing Authority and to trading on the main market of the London Stock Exchange on Friday, 24 August 2012.

The shares in issue following this notification are 102,609,771.
