What is Private Medical insurance?
Also known as PMI, Private Medical Insurance generally covers the cost of private medical treatment for acute conditions. It is usually classified into three types: In-patient, Day-patient, and Out-patient.
Is Private Medical insurance expensive?
Like most insurance, PMI provides peace of mind and the cost versus the benefit will be solely in the mind of the person paying for the cover. See below for how to obtain your personalised cost illustration and have the facility to talk with an Adviser.
What does Private Medical insurance usually cover?
Dependent on the cover chosen, it will likely include treatment of short-tem (acute) medical conditions, In-patient tests, In-patient or Day-patient surgery, and Hospital accommodation or Nursing. As always, it is best to take advice and check with your Adviser and the provider’s terms and conditions.
Are there any exclusions in Private Medical insurance policies?
Pre-existing conditions (conditions you suffered from before taking the cover) are not usually covered, as are GP services, long-term incurable illness (also known as chronic conditions), and Accident & Emergency admissions. Once again, the mantra of it being best to take advice and check with your Adviser and the provider’s terms and conditions applies.
