Oops! my bad, it's Kingdom not United Kingdom.

Upon re-reading larryh's link I noticed a paragraph that I had missed -

'The JV will focus on developing and manufacturing Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries. Moreover, with R&D facilities in both Germany and Saudi Arabia, the companies plan to build a Gigawatt-scale manufacturing facility in the Kingdom to go into production in the next year.'

Possibilities re Partnering?

Interesting that he still is claiming the position of CEO!

Maybe if they have any left over from crowd funding their fish project!

The Government proposal is to ban domestic gas boilers for new build housing - so about 2 or 300,000 homes per year.
Current building regs already cut heating requirements substantially but in my opinion moves such as this will push new houses closer and closer to "passivhaus" standards, so the impact would be a lot less than the Headlines suggest.

re administration, one only needs to look at the Gildemeister story to see how that could pan out. (There are those that have been suggesting that a management buy out "on the cheap" is on the cards in such a situation)

While it is correct Sonnen supply domestic units, there is some overlap as they interconnect their batteries to make an ever increasing larger virtual battery that can perform grid regulation functions.

An interesting potential advance from Germany, possible 80% reduction in materials."At the Hannover Messe from April 1 to 5, 2019, Grevé and her team will be show a 3.2m2 bipolar plate intended for large-scale redox flow batteries (hall 2, stand C22)."https://www.electronicsweekly.com/news/research-news/conductive-polymer-sheet-shrink-car-grid-storage-batteries-2019-01/

Translation -

Control energy market: new tender conditions.

With the stipulations of June 13, 2017 (BK6-15-158-159), the Federal Network Agency facilitates access to the balancing energy market - for renewable energies, storage and taxable consumers. In addition, the changes will help harmonize tendering procedures and simplify participation.

Since 12.07.2018 new tender conditions for secondary control reserve and minute reserve apply:

Change to the daily calendar,
Standardization of production times to 4 hours,
Setting the minimum bid size for participation in the tendering procedure of MRLs and SRLs to 5 MW (positive and negative),
Derogations from which a minimum bid size of 5 MW may be waived,
Offer increment 1 MW,
Freedom to pool facilities for the provision of SRLs and MRLs within the same control area when making the offer,
Possibility to secure investments not only within the control area but also across control areas.

If you are already a participant in standard service tendering for SRL and MRL, you will be confronted with process changes, with contractual adjustments (should you, for example, act as a service provider) and generally with organizational or coordination costs. You may need new or additional price forecasts, and you may need to adjust your bid strategy / position. You may also want to use newly granted freedoms, which could mean adjusting your collateral concept.

On the other hand, if you are considering a first-time participation in SRL or MRL tenders due to the simplified market access, then you should focus on business models, strategies, processes and IT support.

The most recent change re SCR I could find was late summer 2018.

REDT's engineering facility was expanded and the contract with Heights opened when Jabil pulled out of Livingstone. Between the two I'm sure production of Gen 3 product is no problem, obviously at what volume and timescale is unknown.
(off topic - Any one else having problems accessing LSE site recently?)

REDT's UK manufacturing contract is with Heights (UK) Limited in Yorkshire.

https://cleantechnica.com/2018/09/28/nantenergy-says-zinc-air-battery-ideal-for-grid-storage/

When did Zinc-Air "come of age"?

1000+ deployed, sub $100 per Kwh.

Could this be a threat to RED?

I believe Dyson are exploring Solid-electrolyte Lithium tech for their upcoming products.
