Alcosynth or Alcorelle. Never heard of this drug before - just wondering whether it is time to sell MARS or whether MARS should incorporate it into their products. Developed by Professor Nutt - no kidding. Anyone any views ?

Seems it affects brain in same way as alcohol without any of the side effects to liver, kidneys, heart. Immediate acting antidote available so you can drive home afterwards without any effect. Could be the shape of drinking to come - in about 3 years or more.

Latest contract : what are TPG making ? Profit margin ? Main contractor ? Can anyone fill in the gaps ?

GlaxoSmithKline has offloaded the global rights to failed cardiovascular disease drug losmapimod to Fulcrum Therapeutics, who plan to reposition the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase inhibitor as a treatment for a muscle wasting disease (FSHD). GSK given high equity stake in Fulcrum plus royalties. Sounds good.

Flybe managed 1p per share ...

calling someone a horse ? Surprised they have not arrested Prince Charles for calling his wife a camel. Apparently, Camilla is Arabic for 'camel like' !

You could not make it up

Perused the Scheme of Arrangement document and found that although the meeting to approve the takeover is May 10th, D Day when shares are no longer traded is sometime in Q4 with long stops on 10/12 and Friday 13/03/2020 ! Cheques despatched 14 days after D Day.

Hope someone comes in with counter offer before 10/5.

Flybe had lots of planes/slots/assets and was sold for 1p per share

OK everyone - IMO this package is 36 times more than the job is worth. What do you think ? Will you vote it down ?

Trent - all the Marston pubs in Kent/Mudway have an extra menu specially for vegans, with a half decent range of stuff. Means I can actually go out for meal with daughter down the pub - which would otherwise not be possible. Not a vegan myself, but have to admit liking the coconut ice cream - goes well with Hobgob Gold. The complete menu at these pubs is surprisingly varied and much bigger than comparable chains such as Beefeater, Vintners, Brewers Fairy et al. Quality is streets ahead of Wetherspoons (beer and food). True story about Beefeater - went there 6 weeks ago on a Sunday and ordered roast beef. Guess what - there was none - talk about not living up to their name ! Ended up having fish and chips instead.

Grub same as any pub chain? Thats horse s***. Credit where credits due, MARS does a great vegan menu which vegans (eg my daughter) really enjoy.

Selling the airline would allow the rest of TCG to be bought by non-European investors.
Under EU rules on airline ownership, European investors must own more than half of an airline or risk losing flying rights in Europe.
So who are these non-European investors ? Vulture funds ?

Daily Mail thinks the recent price rise caused by moving to AIM !
Seems that due to greater scrutiny, AIM is no longer place for higher-risk companies to access capital, but ideal for firms struggling to make impact on main market.
So when RNO announced its intention to de-list from LSE and join AIM market, its shares rose 10.3 per cent higher to 30p.
Advantage of AIM is the ability to attract 'specialist AIM investors' that would not have considered them on the main market, making a useful pool of cash if company is struggling to entice investment.

Thx Pantherax, will look at the II offering.
Just to rub salt into the wounds, WRES has had a belter of a week.

Vampire Squid acquire 6% stake provided they play their instruments. Why have they acquired them and what will they do with them is the question. IMO expect another bid.

Peel Hunt today downgrades its investment rating on Marston's PLC (LON:MARS) to add (from buy) and cut its price target to 115p (from 125p).

JS at BARC :
1) the famous whistleblowing episode - serious personal failure of judgement not in keeping with an employee at any level.
2) taking personal control of CIB - surely something a Group CE should delegate.
3) BARC and Deutche mentioned in same breath - tagged as failing peers.
4) future capital requirements brought under the microscope - very worrying.

Bring on the Branston - even a jar of pickle could do better than this. Bramson is not a banker, but his influence on the board could only improve things IMO.

And this is not April 1st ...

Apparently, MARS will power the 400 electric vehicle (EV) chargers across its UK estate with 100% renewable energy. Think they have missed the point. All EV car owners want is cheap electricity - not expensive renewable.
11 Apr '19

Been a recovery play for the last 10 years. Time for a divi than acquisitions IMO.
11 Apr '19

Fine - revenue and orders up, china implemented, move to AIM sensible. Moving in right direction IMO. Wondering what acquisitions RNO is mulling over ...

Pantherax - even as of this week I have been let down by this joke of a system. Wanted to place a limit order on WRES which is quoted in pence to 4dp. You've guessed it, Dumb investor can only manage limit order to 2dp, and nobody was sure exactly how the 2dp would work ! In the end, I missed out on the latest rise in WRES. Which platform would you recommend ?
