I just came back from aboard after staying in some remote part of Asia. Can anyone tell me about this Allied Irish Bank (ALBK) share, can I still sell it to stop loss?

Hi Bill. There still trading on the Irish stock exchange ESM market. And i think its still trading as a New York ADR. So they haven't disappeared or been completely nationalized.
If your broker is not prepared to deal in them, you should be able to transfer them to a broker who will using a Crest form.

Allied Irish Bank is managing to hold my interest despite being nearly nationalized and losing it's forum on LSE. Maybe we can discuss ALBK back here. :)

Sexy; great idea to revitalize a discussion on AIB here.. Always wondered how it went up from 0.06 to 0.09. It is delisted in London and NYSE as well.. It is trading in pink sheets as AIBYY in new york.. It is $1.00 a piece now..

Yeah ! What my confusion with AIB is it's market cap compared to it's share price.
It's valued today at 42 billion which is a crazy valuation. Much higher than it ever was during the boom . BKIR is only valued at 2.5 billion today.

When the Government took the 99.8% share in AIB , they put in 6.6 billion to the best of my recollection. But market cap went from 1.3 billion to 53 billion overnight ???? Sexy; Yes indeed. Great puzzle for me. One explanation is Irish government is seeking private parties to invest in it. Should have been in it when it was 0.06 euro.
