CAD - Canadian Dollar
| History of the Canadian Dollar: |
| Shortage of coins and confusion over exchange values in British and French colonies led largely to the issuing of paper notes. In 1685, playing cards cut to different sizes to represent different denominations and signed by colonial officials were used. Card money was withdrawn from circulation in 1719, and is sadly no longer used. |
