With reference to my earlier post. What I should have also pointed out was although I felt a rise this week was very much on the cards, I did feel that exceptional good news was needed for it to reach these levels. Although recent news has been supportive of the SP......it hasn't been earth shattering. I suppose if I am completely honest ....... I followed my reasoning with hard cash and a week later I find myself in this position. Would I have accepted this position last Saturday.........you bet I would.

You do not renegogiate loan covenants (especially in today's enviroment), you have to take action to met them or the bank takes control. That is why the reaction in the SP has been so severe.

I would not hang my hat on NAV, indeed if we adopt the European standard SDIC is trading at a huge 89%+ discount to NAV........hopefully management can turn this around and match its competitors.

You're a star!

I'd be very nervous buying Lloyds at this level, and if I was holding I'd have sold up today. Well, actually I'd have sold yesterday!

I was charting DES, and had put support at 95, which was hit twice before. Not that bothered, though I may sell at 110. Hell, I may even buy more if your 88 is reached, and I'd definitely trade them. This is a roulette share, imo.

HDY - Never heard of them, pulled up the 6 month chart. Indeed you're right, I may buy at 200. Cheers for the tip.

You can move stocks, with your tips. lol

[johnjohn] U.S. News Lifts Banking Stocks (BARC)

A rally on Wall Street overnight, which left the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 44.51 points, or 0.42%, at 10,611.84, initially bolstered the FTSE 100 Index on Friday morning. Gains were short-lived, however and shortly after midday Britain's leading share index had retreated to 5,633.80, up 16.54 points, or 0.29%.

Dominic Turner
shareprices.com - Friday, March 12, 2010

Financial stocks were strong across the board, with Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) up 2.06p, or 5.08%, to 42.61p, Lloyds Banking Group up 2.02p, or 3.57%, to 58.56p and Barclays up10.3p, or 3%, to 354.05p. The banks mirrored their U.S. counterparts, who were stronger after news that Christopher Dodd, Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee is to offer his own version of an overhaul of financial regulations without Republican support; Congress and the U.S. administration have been trying to implement an overhaul since last summer.

[Harcha] A little theory (RBS)

RBS goes up during March to say 50p, PI's crystalise their investments, selling for c60% profit if they had piled in at 30p in February......lots of PI's cross their capital gains thresholds or at least more hit it than would have if the price hadn't been accelerated = Lots more tax revenue for a beleagured Govt needing tax revenue desperately in January next year when it becomes payable. Which then leads to the next question, what will happen to the SP in April if there's even the slightest grain of truth to that? Thought it was worthy of discussion anyway...........

Sorry I've been quiet this week.
Skiing at Glencoe is just over an hour away for me and the market has been pretty dull. Anyway, VIY posted a fairly weak BUY alert on todays SP movements, so looks like something is brewing. Only 2 star strength and the RSI's pretty low.
Not happy with the weekly MacD, so unless a coming RNS indicates some financial data, the SP will not move up with any force. I think. Usual DYOR caveats apply.

Its been said before.

Example. You have 100 share at £1 = £100. 1-10 consolidation means you now have 10 shares at £10 = £100.
