Multi-tasking

Fri, 3rd Sep 2010 - Author: Boredmum

It is well documented that women are good at multi-tasking, but I have to admit at times things can get a little crazy.

Take this morning for instance. My daughter was away to nursery so, only having one child to look after, I thought I would be in for a relaxing morning.

My son wanted to play in the garden, and being only 18 months old, he needs monitoring as he plays. I had tidied the house and was just clearing some breakfast dishes in the kitchen, my laptop was in the living room and then it all started to ‘kick off’.

My son decided that it is fun to climb the concrete stairs, in and out, in and out. Now he was quite good at it but still needed watching…and then some movement started on my shares.

The shares that were increasing; Caza Oil and Gas (TIDM code: CAZA) was moving and Connaught (TIDM code: CNT) was also rising (Please, no comments on CNT, I couldn’t resist trading it again when it started to go positive!).

Before I knew it, I was going round in circles, the garden, the kitchen, the living room, round and round. Checking my son, washing a couple of items in the kitchen and into the living room to check prices on my laptop, refreshing my pages, round and round, round and round…

I was glad when the prices rises started to steady. I was glad just to take my son in from the garden, sit down and relax by writing my Blog.

As I type, both shares are up. I’m not quite ready to sell, but life just got a little manic there and it’s nice to relax for a bit.

Do some of you find it a juggling act at times or are you cool, calm, and collected in your trading?

"PT4N - If only my kitchen was large enough for a dishwasher. Also I have tried the laptop in the garden but it is so hard to see the screen, if you run it off the battery it dulls down too much, I have used an extention cable but I have an incredibly sunny back garden. Good advice though. :-)"

"Boredmum, why didn't you just take your laptop outside into the garden?"

"Morning Herring, I'm afraid I did not follow my own advice and got caught with CNT. I was aware of the risk and took the chance. I'm sticking with my investments for now and glad to say my largest holding (CHL) is going great guns. As for stockchallenge, it's funny how what we choose at the start of the year loses it's appeal as time goes on. I think I currently hold only 2 of them."

"Hi bored mum, hope you're well and didn't get caught by the CNT suspension. I'm lucky or unlucky enough to be out of work at the minute and get tues and thurs to myself and the other days i get to babysit the small hooligan. on those days i get 10mins between 7.30 and 8am to scan for news and maybe a few more minutes during snack times. multitasking with the pocket sized wrecking ball is not an option! i see that the fat lady has moved into your corner on stockchallenge and you must be reviewing the wine guides as we speak, lol!"

"Hi OldFool, I'm sure life is so much simpler for those who don't have dependant kids at home. ;-) I was so glad when I checked this morning and there were no rns news on my companies as I have a busy morning with the nursery run then playgroup, I don't mind if news comes tomorrow as things are at a slower pace for me then. In typical fashion as you know they usually all release news at the same time and you can't keep up."

"In the mornings 7.00 till 8 and then the run to 8.30 every day is madness! My kids are older and (supposedly) able to look after themselves. Looking for news until 8.00 is interrupted with calls of "where are the socks", "there is no milk", or my personal favorite, "my juice leaked yesterday over my kit and I forgot to take it out, I need it"! 8 - 8.30 is a nightmare if I have spotted something I want to trade, as invariably they are late or its raining. I get the rather nice requests then of "can you drop me to school" and because I am an easy fool of a walked over father its a yes. I can buy get em to school and back to see the rise/loss in peace. I will be sorry to see the back of the holidays."
