Wow how depressing reading your posts you must know far more than all the brokers who rate this a buy with your in depth knowledge of the markets you must be a multi millionaire !!!
My take on things are a little more positive
( All planning permission gained )
( stage two in final stages)
( All contracts have been signed)
( mine and any on costs in future met by the contractors)
Hence the increased costs ( the contractor covering their Arse )
(Torps gained and more in the pipe line )
World class product with world demand ( pity we have only one mine)
Gina is no ones mug and would not have invested to throw her cash away !!!
If you feel this is all doom and gloom I suggest you sell up ( if you are invested) and go somewhere that gives you a quick buck.
I will not sleep tonight worrying that we may get a meteor strike on the mine then again it would save money on digging the hole !!!
To all genuine investors please ignore the doom and gloom merchants any concern shown only gives them more oxegen !!!

wwguk You could argue that the underground MTS is a public "good" when compared to many hundreds of 30 ton lorries but the problem would equally have been solved by failing to fund the mine.
SXX have sensibly accepted that the project can only go ahead with minimal disruption to the national park and the local population. Its not like Oz where there are bloody great holes in the ground hundreds of miles from anywhere. The issue is that all governments have to be conscious of public opinion 'cos we get to sack them if we don't like them. It would be an interesting exercise to establish how much of SXX costs are a direct result of real , or imagined public reaction.
I'm going to skip q3 'cos i don't know enough to contribute and move to your Q4.

My take would be:

Ensure that the funding and contingency are massively over resourced, Anyone who has read anything about large , complex and lengthy projects knows that the cost risks are all to the upside, so if you want your money back you sit yourself at the head of the queue and seek to ensure that supply(of cash) exceeds demand.I think it a better than even chance that the eventual ST2 settlement emerges with a greater cash assumption that current ie more than $3.6 bill.
While Torps have been much discussed I;m not sure they're all that critical. there is a widely held view that the product works and if fairly priced will sell, indeed if funding conditions were less onerous I suspect SXX would have taken a chance on selling in the market place at higher than "torp" prices.
I still think that the most useful thing SXX could achieve would be a large scale direct investment from a partner in the Agri business at less than ruinous terms. the cynic in me (what you cry, cynicism!!)might wonder whether the vultures are waiting for a carcass before feasting.
I have said several times that I think SXX problems are more financial than technical - a history of company failures is littered with those who couldn't fund their liabilities ,not those who failed to achieve the technical objective, which is why the next phase is critical . If SXX achieve a reasonable and adequate funding position I believe that they can be successful-if anybody in GOGGS(Government offices Great George street)where the Treasury live is still working then they are in with a chance.
