Commercial Banker Squirrel with 30 years in the game so yes I do have a bit of experience and knowledge to share with anyone who would like to listen or discuss. No experience in international I’m a afraid. Do try and pay attention in future!

Happy to share anything that people want to ask of me. I have nothing to hide and certainly don’t make anything up. Interesting that you aren’t willing to share your credentials. Very telling.

On a more serious note, my take is that these boards are for people to share ideas and opinions and to learn from each other and have a laugh on the way to making their fortunes. If I make a factual error then people are welcome to correct me. I get things wrong sometimes and learn something new every day.

However, what I cannot abide is you berating people because they have a difference of opinion. Everyone is entitled to express their opinions share ideas and learn without fear of being bullied by you. And given no one knows exactly how this will all pan out, their beliefs and theories have as much credibility as your own until proven otherwise. OM is a case in point. None of us actually knows how it will pan out as it is virgin territory so anyone with a theory should be free to throw their hat in the ring based on their best guess.

I am sure that there are many people who read this board and would truly love to ask questions or post their thoughts but don’t because they fear you waiting in the wings to pounce and try they show them up. Frankly you ought to be ashamed of yourself. Looking back at your posts, all of which relate to RKH, I am struck by the aggressive and belittling tone you adopt. Conflictual and most of it darn right rude and nearly always unpleasant. Like most keyboard warriors I doubt you would say what you happily post each day to the faces of your target and for good reason.

If you really are the font of all knowledge, how about you use it to better the experience and knowledge of others, not to try and berate and undermine them. Are you really so sad that the highlight of your day is to try and catch someone out on here or prove your self validated ‘superior knowledge’?

By all means share your extraordinary wisdom with people and help them to learn but get shot of the arrogant supercilious tone. It does you no favours and achieves nothing but create unhappiness and bad feeling.

Redon, while it's probably wise not to raise expectations too high, what you write makes good sense.

Frankly, if the ECT was designed to prevent governments cheating companies out of legitimate revenue (which is what appears to have happened here), then the RKH award ought to be as you suggest and for the likes of greenspot, certainly NOT a "side show".

-The general expectation here would appear to be perhaps £50/£100 million compensation which in itself would be most useful particularly as the market appears to expect very little indeed.
-I had always understood that the objective of the 'oil treaty' was to protect companies from the confiscation etc of assets. (With Italy's national oil company operating worldwide it is easy to understand why the Italians signed up to the treaty!)
-I further understood , perhaps wrongly, that the treaty allowed for 'full' compensation for the net value of oil assets confiscated which both de facto and de jure is the case here!
-Thus I would have expected RKH lawyers to have started any claim with a gross market value of oil in situ of US$1 billion more or less. I can conceive that some weight might be given to any Italian defence that RKH did not do due diligence which MIGHT reduce any claim by a maximum of 50%.
-The figure for net recoverable oil might only be around 20 million barrels but with a low exploitation cost of say 20$ barrel. (As I recall MOG were expecting exceptionally low costs.) With the op in excess of 60$ when the arbitration occurred one might expect a starting figure of as much as $750 millioin which could well result in an award well in excess of £100 million. (The advice of the RKH board is that they are expecting 'significant monetary damages'.
-I would not bet on the outcome but there really is a good possibility of a settlement much in excess of current expectations! What have I got wrong?
