Chate, there are normally limits on the volume of buybacks so unless the market is buying NG's broker cant buy as many as they might like although I have not been following this closely or been on top of the parameters of the buyback.

I did my own "buyback" today to cover those that I was forced to sell earlier and added a few more for good measure but not a full tranche as there might be more to come yet but didnt want to miss out either, so hedging my bets really.

Well I can only go by my holdings and Kingfisher + WPP have also seen their SP collapse during their own buy backs.

Yes, the buyback is very frustrating.. HSBC share price increased when they did theirs.. I think it has to do with the books needing to balance at the end of every day... so if more people are buying the share prices increases until holders sell and if holders are selling the price decreases to find buyers. This effectively is how the brokers balance the books. However, when a buyback is happening, the traders already know whatever shares are sold, will be bought back by company so demand is… Read More

Assume Marxist Labour steal all the Utilities with no compensation. They would still have to raise the money to run them - can't see a big queue of lenders forming.

Yes it is better for a lower share price if your buying, company or PI. Not sure why you think shareholders are being hammered. "Should rise" maybe its stopping it falling faster because of the buyback.

I am generally negative on buybacks but I suspect the benefits take a long time to filter through to the shareholders and often go unnoticed but that should be ok for long term holders.

I wish it would get hammered so I can add some more but maybe I might try just a few at these… Read More

Rather convenient how the SP always collapses when buy backs are going on?

Obviously better for the company to buy back at a lower price but shareholders get hammered every time.
With such a large quantity of shares being 'bought back' surely the SP should rise not fall?!

There's proof of the amount of manipulation that goes on in the market every day.
A totally orchestrated depression of the share price.

If you see buy-backs run away!
