Elsewhere, easyJet (EZJ) releases a trading statement on Thursday. The low-budget airline’s shares have delivered a meteoric performance of late, rising 150% over the past year and hitting a 52-week record of 1,274p on May 22nd, buoyed by a 9.3% rise in revenue. The FTSE 100 company also confirmed that the expected winter losses had fallen by nearly a half. More recently easyJet said it would buy 25 pairs of arrival and departure slots at Gatwick from rival Flybe Group (FLYB) for £20m. The acquisition (which is subject to shareholder approval) will see the slots transfer to easyJet in the summer of 2014, and should allow the airline to provide more flights on popular existing routes from Gatwick to cities across Europe and the UK. Ahead of the statement, broker UBS has upped its target price from 1175p to 1380p, and retained its “Buy” recommendation.

Any idea how big a proportion of Easyjet flights are booked via travel agents. A significant proportion must be booked directly with easyjet.com, and then Easyjet also offers holidays (presumably using Easyjet flights)

Short easy jet... its had a long run and its numbers are not as good as expected on the 7th may 2013 earnings release.. ryanair is a head in the online aspect but easy jet's price is due a correction and we are short at (1,130) with a BTC order at (1,050).. this is our opinion and research we conducted doing surveys with travel agents, we are an 70% short recommendation, the only thing ... most people booked holidays back in Jan-Feb according to our research and thoes numbers got priced in in easy jets last earnings, the volume or bookings for the 3 months leading up to this report would have decreased by around 28%
