I’m not sure why people keep talking about the UK’s SFO in relation to cloudtag … since cloudtag is **not** a UK company … if it is indeed still registered anywhere, going from its own website, then cloudtag is registered in st vincent.
the SFO is part of the criminal justice system for england, wales and northern ireland, but its own powers and scope to investigate and prosecute do not extend over private unlisted companies listed in st vincent. (and so far as i can see, there is no meaningful evidence that cloudtag is actually ‘operating’within the UK in any meaningful sense? - but happy to see any evidence to the contrary that anyone can produce.)
… the UK’s SFO *does* potentially have a role in *assisting* an overseas jurisdiction investigating certain kinds of crime (in serious/complex fraud/financial) in their own area, but that would usually be in response to a request from a relevant body in that overseas body for the UK SFO to assist them, e.g. via an MLA (mutual legal assistance) request from an overseas jurisdiction.
… so with that in mind, if anybody wants to try to argue that there may be a fraud case to investigate or prosecute, surely it would be more appropriate for concerns to be raised with the regulatory body in st vincent, and then, *IF* they wanted to pursue that matter [… which seems pretty unlikely to me … ], st vincent could make an MLA request to the SFO?
