RE: GNK Share price instability
Fri 09:08
What do you know about GNK that made you pick it as a stock?

Are you trying to balance a portfolio? If so what are your other stocks exposed to?

If GNK has failed to rise despite good news then it doesn't sound like a good bet maybe because it's tied to the UK economy facing brexit uncertainty. ALthough Av. is 50% in the UK market it does operate overseas and has the ability to diversify. That's just my take, others are possible.

GNK Share price instability
Thu 10:42
As a newbie to GNK holdings I though that recent price drop from 703p to 640p gave a good buy-in price. Thankfully only took 750 shares and feel this is a roller coaster option. Despite strong results and a good Easter trading and hopefully a good summer t stops raining!! I had hoped for short term good news st above 650-660p by now. Todays drop of 25p on top of yesterdays 10p drop makes me question should i recover my investment and transfer to AV who at 415p (the lower end of their 3 month average ) offer a 7% divi yield. With many shares offering 6%+ divi it makes it hard for other companies to secure investors unless a longer term hold. Does anyone have any positive news re GNK which may prevent me becoming an ex-investor / stock holder. Does anyone forecast a return to the heady days of 700p+ ( I suppose not until the summer trading has been banked!!).

RE: Annuity Rates
Tue 13:36
Hi LY.
In the fairly recent past a ball park figure was £5k per annum for every £100k invested dependant on index linked rises, payout guarantee terms etc etc.
I took a small annuity for £30k with Aviva a couple of years ago when I was around 58 which pays about £1500 a year with a minimum guaranteed payout period.
I had a main pot of just over £250k as did my wife. We both transferred into flexibly managed investnent funds and draw down what we need annually.
Best to speak with a few IFAs to see what's best for you, it's well worth the small amount they charge although their fees do vary considerably as do the charges the funds make. NO advice intended of course just reflecting my personal circumstances as always .DYOR.

Thanks Oppa.

Can I just say a £7-8k annuity per annum from a pension pot of £250,000 seems pretty poor to me.

It would have been pretty difficult to have built up a pension pot of £250,000 unless you owned your own business or made good investment decisions. If someone just worked in a salaried job then after paying for house, cars, food, utilities, children, entertainment, holidays etc. then how much could they have realistically saved into a pension pot per year?

Also it sort of makes a mockery of the salaries and pensions of directors. They are increasing their salaries into the millions per year whilst still expecting to find staff prepared to work for £8.50 per hour? I don't know how their brains haven't fallen apart because it is not a belief system that would make any sense to me. How can people be so greedy to think that they should be paid the most for having the easiest job of them all, CEO.
