I am old enough to remember the big debate when we were first asked if we wanted to join the common market a platform for trading without large tariffs , at NO POINT was it mentioned we were eventually going to lose our sovereign right to determine our own laws, and control our own borders . This was forced upon us without any votes or referendums we have succumbed to European rule and our elected Goverment has had power after power stripped away without a second thought.

Rebess, how right you are, if we were approached ,today, to join the EU,as non members, when the democratic rights, law making rights ,border control rights, simple ability to form the relationships we wanted as a country had to be given up then I very much doubt we would join.........idiot paaa tries to say we are leaving the largest trading block in the world !!!!!!... .....we're joining the largest trading block in the world.....it's called the World

I voted to remain due to the trade with the EU but disliked the political intervention that was becoming more dominant than it ever should have been. Make no mistakes, it was difficult to trade within the EU when we were members and will be even more difficult from the outside regardless of any trade deals. Remember the Spanish fishermen or the French ban on British beef exports? There is equivalent issues in providing regulated services into EU countries such as insurance and finance due to… Read More

I really like the way you write and so eloquently put your points of view across. I'm intrigued to know what you did for your living . I'd happily have you as a drinking buddy as I am always interested in your views and wholeheartedly take your pro European stance !
Sun 19:32PerArduaAdAstraRE: Re Eloquence25.41No Opinion
Good evening, Rebess. As you may have gathered, I advocate remaining. That's not to say, I cannot accept that there's much about EU processes or procedures I don't agree with. In saying that, on the whole, if our economy is the prime driver of the welfare of our citizens, I feel our people are best served by being a part of the largest trading bloc the world has ever seen than they are without.

And to my mind, anyone who thinks - as a stand alone nation - we can strike comparable trade deals… Read More
