Tue, 25th Sep 2007 08:08 LONDON (Thomson Financial) - ITM Power PLC said it had received a 'notice of allowance' for it
s fundamental patent from the US Patent Office, and that it expects a formal patent to follow in the near future.
ITM's chief executive Jim Heathcote said the patent notice was timely as the company believes global patent cover is essential before it ships its first products.
Heathcote added: 'We are making excellent progress in constructing and fitting out the company's new production plant and anticipate its completion by the year end, on time and on budget.'
The alternative energy research company said the patent application covers the unique cross-linked hydrophilic ionic materials which underpin the electrolyser and fuel cell developments it has made over the last few years, together with its novel production process.
