Nice post, you'd like to think that these discussions will be coming to some sort of conclusion soon. Also if they wasn't interested then it would have concluded months back surely.
It's the same old same old Peverill.
Zero transparency for shareholders. It feels like they are afraid of letting slip that they have applied for orphan status for fear of garnering genuine interest that could actually drive the share price up. Its hard to believe they haven't actually done it yet given it costs nothing and is made out to be so important for striking a deal.
It makes you wonder who they are actually talking to. Whoever it is, they can't have very deep pockets because if NXP002 has the blockbuster potential they claim it has then it would still be a bargain if someone bought the whole company out for 10p per share.
Why wasn’t the Orphan application made earlier, they have been in talks a long time with whoever it is,AZ is my guess,it can’t be that important as the licensee/owner could have applied for it themselves.More a delay tactic by NFX until they can find someone actually interested in taking it.Dan gets a bit too ahead of himself for my liking,I thought it was in the bag the way they were talking.
"I wonder why such a vague unhelpful response was given "
Par for the course I'm afraid.
“NXP002 is a likely candidate for Orphan Drug Designation”, but it has not been granted this status yet. The company is focussed on discussions with potential licensees for NXP002 and further updates will be provided as soon as appropriate."
Many thanks to Chab for getting this response from Tim.
What a vague response it was though. No dates as to when the application was made so we non the wiser. I wonder why such a vague unhelpful response was given by Tim.
FX is totally right.
I asked if it had been applied for yet, not whether it had been granted. So my question wasn't answered.
Obviously when and if it's granted there will be an announcement as such as the bod have attached so much meaning to obtaining it.

If you think that wasn't intentionally vague then you're living in a dreamworld.
Maybe you should have gone to specsavers
Mars, it is completely vague.
When I read the following:
“NXP002 is a likely candidate for Orphan Drug Designation”, but it has not been granted this status yet.
I actually interpret it as:
“NXP002 is a likely candidate for Orphan Drug Designation”, but it has not been granted this status yet....because we've either not submitted it or we don't want to be transparent about the fact that we have.
The other interesting point in the reply is that they are in discussions with more than one potential licensee
FX not that vague. The answer is it has not been granted yet, so the application is in, it can only have a possibility of been granted if it is applied for.
Thanks Chab.
So as expected, the vague, non-disclosure BS response.
My email to nfx and Tim's reply, which I'm sure he won't mind me posting to other investors
"Would you be so kind as to inform this investor whether you have yet applied for orphan status. "
Tim's reply
“NXP002 is a likely candidate for Orphan Drug Designation”, but it has not been granted this status yet. The company is focussed on discussions with potential licensees for NXP002 and further updates will be provided as soon as appropriate."
Best regards
Tim

OK. I'll ask you again in 90 days....from whenever they get around to applying for orphan status
I don't need to make excuses for them, I'm perfectly happy with my investment here. I never commit more than I can afford to lose not that I particularly want to lose anything. I'm well aware of the risk involved with small pharmaceuticals and I'm happy with the risk/reward possibilities. My average here is under 4p so not concerned atm
"They've said they're in talks with big pharm and that hasn't improved the sp"
Probably because it's an echo.
But let's hope it actually comes to something this time for a change.
...and if Chab receives either no response or the highly expected vague non-disclosure BS response then I expect you'll still find excuses for them too.
Maybe but I'll bet you'd find plenty to moan about
If you care to do some research yourself, you'll find that they've told us about being in 'multiple' talks before. What exactly did that amount to?
2019 multiple talks with Asian partners for NXP002 and others = zip
2019 NXP001 2m deal with China = zip
2019 51m potential deal with Ebers Tech = zip.
So maybe the market just does not react to cheap talk about talks and deals anymore because there is simply no evidence that it has ever happened.
Announcing an application for orphan status might at least prove that we have something worth looking at
They've said they're in talks with big pharm and that hasn't improved the sp but hey if you think it's going to magically improve because they've applied for orphan status!! Maybe they could tell us if the rent is paid 6 or 12 months in advance, that would really get the share price rocketing
Thanks Chablard, please share with us long suffering SHs
"It would be a positive if approved but I don't see how just saying it's been applied for is going to make any difference to the share price"
It would make a he'll of a difference to shareholder confidence...which might just affect the price.
There is only one reason for not announcing it and that is because you haven't done it
I have today emailed the company on the subject of the orphan status. Whether it has been applied for or not.

"It would be a positive if approved but I don't see how just saying it's been applied for is going to make any difference to the share price"
Sorry, but positive news can help the share price and quite frankly it's the right thing to do to keep shareholders informed on what appears to be a major step forward according to bod.

Hi, is anyone (Soup) in contact with a company member that can ask directly about what stage NFX is at in seeking the Orphan Drug Status?
It would be more than reasonable to let shareholders know what progress (or not) is being made on this application. Also some explanation to newbies about what that status will do (yes we can Google but it would be nice to hear from the company as to why they are applying).
