Cas - yep, me too. WO - Sorry, still a ridiculous trading strategy - if you're 'even considering' topping up in the issue at over 11p, then you've just missed the opportunity to buy at 5p, and you should be kicking yourself. Now, try and calm down a bit - your blood pressure get's any higher then you won't 'actually have a life'.
Glad to see that Hylas 4 has reached the GEO orbit! Great job Epoch (UTC): 16 April 2018 19:17:09 Eccentricity: 0.0007199 inclination: 0.0477 perigee height: 35677 km apogee height: 35738 km right ascension of ascending node: 23.8921 argument of perigee: 151.2849 revolutions per day: 1.00553325 mean anomaly at epoch: 339.2095 orbit number at epoch: 17
Matt, thats exactly what I have done . Bought at 5p , hoping that Solus buy their full entitlement and this then boosts the sp to somewhere around that price -11.2p - that Solus will be paying.
Your average in price isn't actually relevant here. The simple fact is this - who will want to buy at 11p plus when they can get as much as they want (if you're a PI) at 5p in the market. If you want more buy it now. That way, if the price does indeed go to 11p you're quids in!! Waiting to see if it goes to 11p, and then buying more (in the issue) seems a rather odd strategy?
I think that Avanti expect Solus to take up their open offer in full. Buko pointed it out in an earlier post. If it is left to us to take up the open offer, then we have no chance. Who here is going to pay over 11p when we can get them for 5 p. ? This is from the RNS :- If the Debt for Equity Swap and the Open Offer are completed, the Solus Funds will hold in aggregate up to a maximum of 42.0 per cent. of the Enlarged Share Capital (assuming that the Solus Funds subscribe for their full Open Offer Entitlement and that no other Shareholders subscribe for Open Offer Shares)
Oh dear.....
They do seem relatively sanguine about the situation and it probably means further dilution for us but not to the extent we've seen. I was also told that there isn't any reason for interested parties not to buy or sell shares as the regulatory situation means everything is out there in the open. We saw last week what happened when Caledonia sold c. 6 mio shares. It wouldn't take much to push the price the other way and I wonder if Caledonia's move was serendipitous as it has discouraged PI's from investing due to the price gap with the rights. It would be impossible to buy a decent amount without pushing the price past .1125 so you could make a case for it being in the interest of those who will underwrite (or have no other option to keep the lights on) to pick up shares cheaply from PI's who don't subscribe. I know for this to happen they have to believe the intrinsic value is higher and it requires them to invest further but it wouldn't surprise me to see a new investor coming in under a smokescreen. It is getting interesting. Of course Caledonia could be right and it was time to bail. Without Caledonia the price would be hovering around the .11225 price imo.
It’s a bit hard to justify with the current share price, I could add some more to this but the offer as I understand is allowing me to buy 1 share at 11 something pence and the trading price less than half - have I missed something is it more shares than this..? TBH I haven’t really looked that deeply but I see an option shared offer in my HL account
Yes, like for instance the price. Specifically it would need to 'shift' up by about 120%. I think the institutions (Solus, Mast etc) are going to have to wear the entire issue if they want it to continue as a going concern.
Ha we’re probably already connected on linked in
Yes by verticals I was referring to Oil and gas, defence, government, science and research institutes, shipping maritime, hospitality, utilities, aviation etc I’ve satisfied a need for something or other with satellite over the years...
ShakenBake clearly knows his stuff - but I'd still bet it was a typo, Satellite delivered broadband isn't all over by any means - but it's (understandably) becoming ever more marginalised in developed markets as a means of provision of "standard" connectivity. Therefore satellite broadband needs to find other markets and needs. I'm reliably informed that players such as Echostar and Viasat (who both have substantial businesses supplying normal fixed location broadband) now both see their growth potential in alternate vertical markets - whether it's in-flight, IoT or something else. I'd be prepared to bet a whole ten pounds that the Viasat/Eutelsat JV now doesn't bother putting beams from their next-gen 2020 bird over Western Europe... well, not to deliver "standard model" connectivity, anyways.
In a recent post by XxShakenBakexX I read " selling and delivering satellite infrastructure to many market vericals". I read it as 'market verticals' which made more sense to me and put it down to a typo. I read it again and googled verical. I didn't doubt Xx's veracity but it's nice to have confirmation that he works in the industry and has a better understanding than the layman; a layman wouldn't know what verical is. Whatsoccuring is also in the industry or associated and it's reassuring to have some posters who know what they're talking about even though their stock picking is as bad as mine with this stock. I've picked up a few more sub 10p and may go to the 25th GM though I'm fully aware my vote won't make any difference. I watched the launch and spoke to Avanti last week. I commented that whilst the Japanese turned up as a bus load David Bestwick and the Orbital guy were decidedly outnumbered. They certainly don't think satellite technology is all over in Japan despite what some posters say. My contact replied that DB was quite emotional about the whole thing. I liked that.
It is a penny share for a simple reason; it is worth no more.
...is probably a more cogent comparison - at least in more developed markets. The decision on whether to provide cable/fibre or not is of course completely an economic one - it requires a population density that is going to provide enough take-up to deliver a return. 4G (and leaving aside 5G for the next two or three years) is considerably cheaper to deploy and has both a fixed (premises owners) and nomadic (smartphone users) target market - so it's easier/faster to get a return on a much smaller capex investment. Plus in some geographies (e.g. the UK, there's a lot of government money being thrown at the MNOs for extension of the 4G network to cover the emergency services - as with EE. This is simply going to marginalise satellite technology more and more in Europe. The "providing backhaul to 4G networks" argunet doesn't really technically stand up. Why do I say that? Take a lok at OfCom's recently released USO criteria recommendation document - (the USO is the policy OBLIGATION to provide at least 10 Mbps minimum to every premises in the country). Geostationary satellite technology is specifically excluded on the grounds of latency - ye cannae change the speed of light, c'pn! No getting round that, sadly - maybe with MEO and LEO satellites in the future, but not with any of Avanti's fleet.. Therefore Avanti - and every other satellite operator - is going to (and indeed is) seeing a massively increased churn rate in developed markets - which is why the best target markets are now ones like in-flight connectivity (although that's being quickly sewn up) and underdeveloped geographies with light population densities.(like Africa etc). AIMO.
In Europe and the middle east its ok to use cables, but not in Africa, can you imagine how much work and cost it would take to connect a massive continent like that with cables? Much cheaper with Satellite and its the logical answer even though AVN has considerable debt, whose to say it won't work out. Once Hylas 4 is fully functional then hopefully those long awaited contracts will roll in. After all this is unique patented ground breaking technology. I just hope us long suffering shareholders will see some kind of return on our investment. (Hopefully within my lifetime).
Turn lights off. I wonder who's going to takeover the so called satellites. Much cheaper too use land based cables whoops sorry they do. Satellite programmes are just a scam to take people's money. You should of put it in the boot of the tesla roadster they might of just charged a taxi fare. Gla just think about it how much debt this company has built up and what does it have to show for it?
Matt Forgive me. I shouldn’t have offended you.
Hey Mrcalm - doesn't look like you'll be changing you name to Mrwittybanter anytime soon then.....:-)) Long time since I saw 'ooohhh' in a post. Guessing you're over 70 or under 20 LOL
yesterdays RNS at 16:31 buko.
Southstreet what info have you got on Caledonia selling could you post that information on the board has I can’t trace any sells they had 6.5 % 31st of December Are you saying we will see a TR1 or just a small percentage . Cheers .
Just my thoughts what’s Occurring... rest assured I’m not one of those who you might consider lack of experience having so far accrued 17 years sizing/ selling and delivering satellite infrastructure to many market vericals - I have a pretty good grasp on the technology/ market competitors etc as well as 500+ linked contacts also in the industry... just in case... a lot of my earlier posts on here will also verify this. I’m fingers crossed for success, I desire success for personal gains as well as working associates/ business friends who work directly for Avanti. I’d hate to see this go the pan.
Oooh very brave matt. Acting all hard behind a keyboard. Claims im bot calm but loses his rag cos he cant handle my price updates. Not sure if your parents will allow you to see this message tonight as 8pm is your bedtime. Have a good weekend little man. Sleep tight, dont let the bed bugs bite.
The buys might be people shorting rather than looking for growth? Seems buying is out weighing sales so ...?
I noticed Caledonia had sold out of some of their holding today. I had them down as slightly more sensible than waiting till this level. I mean its obviously close to game over or as I like to say, lalalalalalalal ( fat lady singing ) :-)
