Common sense let’s hope arsenal joins the new board he was saying on the rolls Royce board how in 20 years he’s has made 600’000 pounds on the stock market all we have to do is follow his tips and has Del Boy says this time next year we will be millionaires LOL
I am going to start a new board for value add only investors where there will be no tittle tattle where everyone adds value and silly comments or over emotive posters are straight struck off. I think such a board would be very powerful and I wish LSE would do the same - I have stopped reading most comments on this board and posting less as it is rubbish. The good posters should simply not respond to posts you think are over emotive or rubbish. I might even call it the ‘Retail Union’ as we smaller investors have to work together to share knowledge to improve our investments and beat the big boy funds !
Sorry but just saying.
Does anyone know if the share buyback has finished?
Let me know when the Job comes available Arsenal. On the other hand, imagine trying to communicate with the Stroppy element of the workforce.
Exactly Red comments like that just show how selfish and out of touch these union leaders are ,I suggest they start looking for someone 20 years younger with Modern ideas not this rash approach of if I can’t have it your not having it ,Pathetic!
"we built this company and we'll be the ones to smash it to pieces"
Does this statement by Pullinger instil confidence or a recollection of a child throwing its toys from the pram?
Pullinger hasn't built anything more than his ego!
Very mature statement st was from Mr Pullinger shows he cares then LOL
Wolves :Generations of postal workers have built and defended this great postal service and the terms and conditions for postal workers, it’s our time to stand again.
I recall the same sentiment being expressed more succinctly by Mr pullinger during an episode in the Back tenure when he shouted at a press conference 'we built this company and we'll be the ones to smash it to pieces'

Wow! considerable input from you both last night. Just a note to say thanks for your time it made interesting and informative reading. Nice to see that it's possible to have grown up discussions.
JB basically you worked you the area the business when it was Dee,Ed a job for life ,he business was funded as you know by us taxpayers and now t is a totally different your work ethic was hopefully different from today and unfortunately a lot of what we read on here is a very selfish approach to wanting everything but not accepting that there has to be change in the modern work environment, im not invested here at present because as usual the CWU only think that the PLC world does not work and it makes me laugh when you read all this nonsense about opinions n here who only want something but dont accept modern change in work , that’s why this business should never be put back to a nationalised way as the 70s proved it does not work and I only hope that the management and CWU can come to an agreement but I doubt it !
Ispy I absolutely get it I just think IA will do extreme damage to most jobs within the business. Weakens everyones hand moving forward. Enjoy your weekend and the nice weather.
@ JBT.
Let me tell you where i am on this management restructuring etc; and the points you mention.
The pay offer? Please see one of my previous posts. In short, 38K-43K this year , role change. 46K next year and 49K the year after. The old DOM role pay was protected for 2 years, so when year three came around it was a pay rise.
Additional hours? Some maybe, but the majority? No chance.
Role changes? I've already said i see no difference. But that doesn't mean there isn't.
VR? Loads applied in my area, some got it. But now there is an apparent shortfall here, so they are re-hiring. Another waste of money.
Re-applying for your job? It was basically an assessment. And believe me, some awful managers passed.
Surplus list? Doesn't exist.
Moving to another area/function? They tried to locate managers as close to their homes as possible. So not necessarily a bad thing.
All of the above is from one or more of my white-collar friends.
Now compare this to my 2% pay rise and the changes RMG want for posties.
Not moaning. Just a comparison for you, through the eyes of a blue-collar worker.
Ispy I am retired. My answers are always honest, I did work in delivery when I started in 1976 but being honest I personally found it boring. As I progressed in the business I did work in mail Centre, Parcel Concentration office and undertook tasks in delivery offices.
I think the delivery office managers voted for IA because they weren't happy with the the pay offer, the additional hours they were putting in for no pay. Plus changes to the roles which I don't quite understand as I have no real info on the detail.
I think most of the managers in other functions are fairly happy apart from the constant threat of VR/Reapplying for your own job, being on a surplus list, moving to another function/area to keep a job. Lots of people face challenges within the business.
@ JBT.
Seems like a genuine answer.
But you can't work in a delivery office. Certainly not one like mine.
Why do you think that a lot of managers voted for IA?
My understanding is that it was the new roles they were expected to take on. Nothing has changed, that i can see.
Apart from a very generous pay rise.
Did you have a new role/title applied?
Ispy I was joking about the management friends, even worse than that I am still friends with a couple of postpersons mainly by text etc as I've moved around a few times. One is strongly for IA and the other isn't but she will go out. Both have been in the business around 40 years.
Ispy as a Manager no I didn't as I didn't have reason too. I was a member of the CMA and before that I was in the CWU and I again didn't find any strong enough reason to vote for IA. Some of the local disputes in my work areas were petty and should have been resolved much earlier in the process.
It really should be an absolute last resort.
Perhaps I have just been lucky to have had decent managers and also able to get information that allowed me to make informed decisions.
I did also have good working relations with the local reps in my work areas and when we did have issues we could find ways to workaround and there was give and take on both sides. We dont appear to be in this place nowadays and perhaps its too far gone.
@ telso.
Conversing with the lowest must be very hard for you. So, it's probably best that you've filtered me, again.
I hope you got your discount from your clubcard. Aldi was it? I'm sure you got plenty of bargains at 10pm on the best before items.
Enjoy your stork "butter," the bread will be fine if just cut off the edges and i hope you didn't forget the tinnies.
@ JBT.
I've been called worse.
But we are not allowed to use any derogatory terms or be in any way confrontational to anyone at work. I'm sure you know that as a manager. I adhere to the rules and am extremely courteous to everyone at work.
I've got lots of management friends. I converse with them. I've even socialised with a few. And yes. I tell them what i think. Personally, i don't care who does what or how much they get paid. I don't get paid for that. But management do. It's alright for you lot to call for changes, but you are the very people who are paid to implement things. And you can't or won't.
Lost contracts? Speak to Thompson. He knew this would happen. I'll tell what he'll do. Straight to workplace and try to convey a message to people who don't actually agree with anything he says.
A question for you JBT. As a manger, did you vote for IA?
Truthfully, I only took you off " FILTER " because my screen had been filled with green for the last two days and there had been a flood off posts in recents days.
I assumed something drastic had occurred within the company, especially with all the rapid posting yesterday, only to realise the other resident clown was on the blob and desperately seeking attention.
Back to filter for and back to reality for me.
P.S The midde-aged man who works the checkout counter at my supermarket also thinks I am foolish.... recently.. I never had my clubcard ready for him to scan at his earliest and immediate convenience, so he told me I should know better......I then asked him how long he had been at his job..........He replied almost 10 years..............I replied that I can see why.
It is what it is,
People with the minimum wage mentality always talk the loudest, listen the least but know it all.
@ JBT.
You're right. I should. I have called out others about this.
The fact that Mr Thompson said there would be no further discussions on pay, leads me to this fact. Unless of course he was lying. So, IMO.
And i will keep the overtime going. Right up to the 26th. After that i will be working a 5 day week.
I can't actually remember when the dividend is paid. But don't forget it can be pulled up to the day before.
Now. That would be disastrous.
Ispy you are sounding more like DW/TP every post not quoting a specific figure. You should really add IMO after your statement about ST as you don't actually know if he will or wont change stance.
Oh please keep the overtime going my dividend might depend upon it.
Ispy what a cop out, just a word you know full well the impact it can have and very disappointing to see you feel its in any way appropriate to use in these tough times. Have you not read about the incidents that have happened in the business when this has been used or are you choosing just to ignore.
Well that's a surprise you've got a management friend is he/she as incapable as the others you mention?
Of course the business will lose contracts/accounts my wife managed teams in that area and we are friends with many of the account managers and you don't know the half of it. Yep losing business is great for securing future jobs and funding and it is down to both sides to avoid these losses.
As I've said from day one no winners out of this just different levels of loss and I'm not talking about shareholders/traders.
@ JBT.
I said 4 figures, you said a grand. I might've meant 2 grand.
But posties like a bonus. I, on the other hand prefer consolidation into my pay packet.
That's why i would've voted no. And i would've tried to explain to my workmates why.
Going back to the CWU's original request for in line with inflation. I may have accepted 4.5%, no strings.
That would then lead us to serious discussions about the pathway to change agreement. Not executive action.
But Thompson ain't for turning. On pay or changes.
I do hope i'm wrong though. This overtime is wearing me out.
@ JBT.
It's just a word. But it obviously upsets some people.
And regarding agency staff. I speak as i find. I agree that they are not all useless. But i do think that some may be creative with what they do.
Not a good position for RMG. Especially if it's a prolonged strike.
The overtime is a means to an end. Nothing more. But i'll accept your thanks.
Do you realise that i and the majority of other posties work 5 days out of 6?
I've also heard from one of my manager friends that RMG have had two contracts pulled, because of the possible IA.
I don't take any pleasure out of that, but maybe Mr Thompson should sit up and take notice.
Ispy I've done some very rough calculations and based on 8 days of strikes I estimate the business would be able to offer near to that 4 figure bonus you mentioned well £960 but sure the business could round it up to the £1k so maybe that an a small increase to the % rise might swing it.
I know of course its like paying for your own bonus but its tough times. Of course the business might ask for one or two of the changes to be agreed and they would also save on that. Really it is time for both the business and CWU to get creative before it is too late.
