Another stodgy dinosaur company run into the ground by lacklustre and outdated thinking board members.
if you keep on doing the same thing without looking at the changes in the customers and marketplace this sort of thing will always happen.
I have got holiday for two to Tunisia for a week with Thomas Cook. Does anyone want the holiday ??? Originally two grand but will take eight hundred
If you paid by credit card you can get your money back.
but how can that be??? we are ruled by EU
joke for our brexiteers
No Short Selling in Germany where gambling is not respectable.
In England it is.
there are contributors who would actually pay for them, given they were buying shares on Friday
I got tcg air tickets from Gatwick to New York return.
I am giving them away. Does anyone here want a gift.
where is Paul Planet Earth? is his absence the reason for the collapse . He had all the ideas.
condor is still running as German government keeping it going with financial aid
so much for being run by EU
" Anyway the referendum was about independence"
The so called expected magnificance of " independence" is pure fantasy ....the reality in something quite different
Next Level "Sustainable Tourism"..... The climate change activists will be creaming their flip flops over this result.
At least now we have E-Bikes, even Granny & the Kids should be able to get over the Massif Central. .... UK carbon targets have just taken a surprising leap forward.
Lost a few hundred quid but so sad for the staff and those that have booked ahead.
Bad decisions in the past buying My Travel and the co op chain leaving massive debt interest all compounded by Brexit etc
Sad to say sitting on a sunbed in Tenerife now having booked with Easyjet and the hotel direct we have saved hundreds of pounds
Said many times on this Forum that no one at TC seemed to be bothered that it was so easy to go on line and find much much cheaper prices with other ABTA protected companies
But still so sad
The shorters got their money when they sold the borrowed shares....the shares will eventually be cancelled so the lender has no further need for them to be returned .... the lender of the shares probably writes the loss off against tax
The shorter will have paid the share borrowing fees
Someone obviously bought the shares the shorter sold....they thought they were cheap no doubt ....
TC advised weeks ago their shares are worth less than the company owes. Nothing to do with Brexit.
My experiences with TC have been very poor, reps only want to know you if buying trips and also got laughed at by reps when getting wet through when boarding at Punta Cans
I see the hedge funds still get their shorting money, the financial system is severely floored, if the company goes bust then the shares can't be traded so technically they should not be able to close and tuff ****, criminal its all wrong.
Investment in GB has dropped like a stone since Brexit was voted for
Global firms particularly EU are leaving as don't want to be stuck paying tariffs
all these TC customers seem oblivious that TC were in financial trouble
" that low cost labour does not pay much tax ... yet expect full social welfare ...."
That of course is an interesting point ....but...who employs that low cost labour, and why ?
Well, as we know ...the labour cost is reflected in the product price to the consumer , and the consumer doesnt value the product with all its added labour costs added in
Look at Americans ...they prefer to buy their cars from Mexico because they dont want to pay the high cost of American wages, health insurance, pensions etc.....the employee thinks he is entitled to it, the consumer thinks he cant afford it ... they wave their Patriot flags , but that is just from the heart, it isnt from the wallet....much like the Scots
How do shareholders receive their expected dividends if the labour costs increase to meet the expectations of the local employee ?
How can you be naive to think that the result of higher individual employee costs will not result in fewer employees earning more each , ( more stress and responsibility ) or more employees earning less each ( shared stress and responsibility) ..and of course more technology to save on the higher labour costs ....consumers dont care about company debts as long as they get cheaper prices ...until of course the company goes bust...like Thomas Cook ....and even then they think some Government magic wand should continue to provide cheaper prices
The idea that the UK can go around the world searching for cheaper labour and lowerprices will merely end up with the same situation that Trump is battling against and the death of home grown production
Send the cheap labour home...and the local producers will end up moving abroad and importing their product
(Like cars from Mexico )
Also, sales will always decline once a company is seen as risky. Who would want to risk booking a holiday when no risk alternatives exist
Buck spot on, yes Fosun were still prepared to buy this shambles despite billions of losses over past 10 years, £1.6bill debt
but suddenly it was off , Brexit def tipping point
i sold at £1.13 yes i am very sensible
""" lower sales has to be Brexit related """
if you had thought that you would have sold ...
common sense ??
This was on the German Web Page....

Due to poor management u only got look at 20 m paid to boss since 2014 and go now of nearly 3 mill in one year
TCG had fundamental problems and should have gone under without Brexit but the 2019 downturn 12% lower sales has to be Brexit related , without that it would not have folded today as this years numbers would not have been so bad (am exluding the write off as that was MyTravel)
in 2 or 3 years yes but not today
