Well...there are lies damn lies and statistics but: "This would seem to indicate that Sweden has had twice the infection rate of the UK but a lower number of deaths within that increased level of infection. This is borne out by the Swedish mortality rate of 0.055% compared with the UK 0.061%."...there are other factors within those statistics....they might not be directly comparable and what about the other Nordic countries?
Does the Swedish government always get its strategies wrong? That regarding mining and the treatment of the Swedish owners of Beowulf seems to be clearly mistaken! However, in dealing with CV19 this might not be the case.
Sweden, and the UK, have followed different strategies in dealing with the issue, albeit the Swedes appear to have followed a path similar to the UK’s 2011 strategy, which was extant up until March of this year.
Sweden has reported 80,422 cases of infection and 5,743 deaths which the authorities have attributed to CV19. A mortality rate of 0.055% (ie. 55 deaths / 100,000 of population)
The UK has reported 256,428 cases and 41,082 deaths attributable to CV19. A mortality rate of 0.061% (ie. 61 deaths / 100,000 of population)
Sweden has a population of c10.5 million and the UK a population of c66.75 million. Therefore, it is reasonable to state that the UK population is c6.35 times that of Sweden.
On a population basis the Swedish infection figures become a UK equivalent of 510,679 (actual cases x 6.35) and UK equivalent deaths of 36,468.
This would seem to indicate that Sweden has had twice the infection rate of the UK but a lower number of deaths within that increased level of infection. This is borne out by the Swedish mortality rate of 0.055% compared with the UK 0.061%.
Because of the different national strategies followed, Sweden’s economy and general health are now in a far-far better condition that that of the UK. So why is the HIGNFY team at no 10 still continuing with the dystopian strategy that is wrecking the UK economy and the general wellbeing of the UK populous? Tragic as it may be to some, can 6 extra deaths per 100,000 of population justify the current measures?
Interestingly it would appear that dysfunctional government is not limited to the UK. The State of Victoria in Australia, where a quarter of Australians reside, would seem to have the lead at the moment - with a similar approach to restricting normal life.
Australia has a population of c25 million of which c4.25 million have been tested. Of these 17,920 people were found to be infected (0.4% of those tested). Sadly 208 of those infected died (1.16% of those who tested positive). Overall, the Australian CV19 mortality rate is 0.00083% (ie less than 1 death / 100.000 of population)!
Generally, is it not about time that the governments throughout the World stopped panicking, and introduce strategies that will re-rail the World’s economy, reinstate sanity and remove the un-necessary fear that they have created!
In the case of Sweden, it’s favourable situation must now present an opportunity to follow a clear strategy that capitalises on its mineral resources for the benefit of Swedes, and particularly the Swedish owners of Beowulf.
Busterhoghog...Calm down a bit , look at it this way, we're flying through the universe attached to a little ball of rock (a very nice one) at 43,000 mph to an unknown destination, Vega which is pretty much unknown. What's the point of squabbling all the time...try to be nice and stop calling people morons, I bet you've been an insulting moron yourself once of twice. Lighten up a bit, OK.
Sorry I missed your question...I was referring to the leader of the SD. Two of the other parties (less decent you understand than S), KD and M might be willing to parlez which means Jimmy is in with a very good chance next election.
Not rising to it Sooz. Obviously has some issues.
Genuinely feel sorry for the long term holders here ,I’ve followed for years ,not invested for several ,not only are most substantial down but have missed out on lots of huge multi baggers elsewhere ,they deserve more for their loyalty, but the board have clearly failed to deliver.

".........looking foolish is what he gets paid for." Lol.
I loved that.
Hi lb. Yes, I feel the strategy was initially an excellent one, but as the grim reality of Baylan's game has built over time, he's busy doing nothing, I'd now go to the PM and state our case, demanding a decision be swiftly brought. We have the ANI, our application passes the grade under legal scrutiny. No direct impact on the environment, mining and reindeer herding can clearly co-exist, nobody can state what the indirect impact of our proposed green operation may be, and under UN guidelines we also warrant the concession if exploiting a deposit is likely to be economically viable, which of course, due to its exceptional quality, ours is. Seven years and three months of the authorities mishandling our application, so we must have closure on our case or be forced to take action to achieve a fair resolution.
I'm sure the PM will understand.
Howl.
Evening. lbjj, So, KB has no strategy? Do get real! If BEM take legal action at this time, we are likely to be torn to pieces. BEM would have to demonstrate that the Government is not dealing with the application. The single word put out into the public domain, with no ambiguity, “prioritised” looked like an attempt to shut the legal door, if so, it could suggest that Baylan takes seriously, all of the options that remain open to BEM – it has registered with Baylan. If this was to go legal now, we would hear a lot of that word “prioritised”.
With no time-limit written into the process document, legal intervention would not happen without BEM making a strong winning argument that the Government has walked. How do we make that argument, when BEM are undoubtedly dealing with Government agencies on a regular basis, to move this forward? The Government could back its legal position. Then we have the objectors. If asked, I don’t imagine that they wouldn’t be willing to back the Governments position, confirming their regular input, in all things reindeer. I’m sure that they wouldn’t want to kick BEM into the waiting arms of those whom they already have a working relationship with – not much! This, having taken 7 years to date, means jack all, in a political/democratic process, BEM has to show, where the Government is not following that process. In respect of past games from the CAB, any counter argument now is of course, BEM took the option of a political solution at that time.
You recommend to others, that they should get professional help, and yet, when KB consults with his professional team, and then decides that all options should remain open, you state that he should resign? Deluded? We here, are short on detail as to the delay, one undisputed fact is, any legal action taken that results in failure for BEM, would be a catastrophe, but would have no consequences whatsoever for those who are not invested - option of a 1p entry perhaps! Action of this type could prove very costly for some. Imo only. atb
No mining exploration company has been granted an exploitation licence for over 12 years; the government's happy to take our money to give them the information of what's in the ground but they ain't going to part with it. The Mining Strategy document is clearly false, it doesn't take, typically about a year. Are all the CEO's sitting on their hands...including Boliden's? Mr Baylan no longer has any credibility and looking foolish is what he gets paid for. There is a political lobby on our behalf...and it hasn't played out yet; the legal option is the last option, and I hope it doesn't come to that.
Good morning,
You are beginning to realise that Budge has no strategy. Sitting on your hands and waiting is not a strategy.
The occasional whining letter to Baylan does not even register.
He needs to fight politics with politics. This has never been about the law, which the swedes keep at arm’s length by implacably refusing to engage.
Only one thing bothers Baylan - his job and his cosy superannuated existence.
Budge must dismantle his credibility in any ways possible including the legal route.
The legal route may be lengthy, but the current situation is eternal.
Simply opting for the legal route would see Baylan crumble, in my opinion. We have p,entry of evidence that he, and all his government cronies have no stomach for a fight.
Timing is everything, and right now, the Swedish economy is in a tailspin. They need projects like Kallak on stream ASAP.
Good luck Eric
Testing us for seven years and three months all at our expense isn't really what I'd call testing.
I have a slight chest pain now. Lol. x
Yes Sooz, we are being slowly bled dry by the Government. I'm not sure if it is intentional, but it doesn't matter whether it is, only that it's happening. That's why I feel Kurt will have to take a different approach. Baylan is no good for us, he isn't willing to deal with us in this supposed process. I'm really behind Kurt and I want him to jump over the moat and bash down their drawbridge.
No more waiting Sooz.
Evening. Suzy2, Jimmy? Who’s that, may I ask? atb
A more positive view would be that they're just testing...to see if the company is worthy of the asset, which could be allowable under the less transparent bits of the law known as 'indirect effects'. Personally, I'm persuaded that KB is up to seeing the product loaded into the truck.
Jimmy's looking better by the minute. :-)
Eric...I only disagree with you about the Boss's strategy, as you know and I've had a horrible thought...what if the Government's plan is to starve us out and pick up Kallak for nothing. I know everybody's already considered this but until recently I wouldn't have entertained the thought that a decent government in a civilised country would adopt such a plan;
the S party is the "decent" party, Mr Lofvan said it was, but the evidence is looking a bit thin. Which is even more reason to get behind the Boss and trust his strategy because he doesn't intend to fold. United we stand! All for One One for Alll. imo. Afty x
Hi Sooz. Yep, just read the RNS now. Aye, I see it answered my question re Kurt's last letter. Baylan hasn't had the common decency to reply, almost two months now and counting. What a duffer.
Good info in the RNS though, eye-popping chronology of the mishandling of our application and the mistreatment of our Company by the Government. Baylan not even bothering to reply to Kurt this last time further highlights the need for Kurt to do something different now, in my opinion. Bypassing Baylan completely must surely be an option, writing to the PM. Letting the PM know that we have had no choice because Baylan has been so reluctant to engage with us and completely ineffective insofar as, our case was supposedly being prioritised some fifteen months ago, yet nothing has actually happened.
The PM could lean on him to get something done, and of course, should the PM prove to be just as rubbish and non-committal, then we can take it from there.
I won't say the next part after that. Lol.
Afty aft. X
Would you...include a proviso?
Thanks Andy for the Podcast. :-)
