Looks good to me:-))
Speedy, the UK's leading equipment and plant hire company, operating across the construction, infrastructure and industrial markets, is today issuing a trading update ahead of its interim results for the six months ended 30 September 2014 which will be announced on 11 November 2014. Trading update The first half saw a good overall start to the year. Activity levels in the UK & Ireland were significantly higher than in the comparable period in 2013 with revenues for the first half expected to be up by approximately 11% year-on-year reflecting continued growth of the business, which is underpinned by a strong performance from Partnered Services. A number of contracts were won during the period and levels of contract bidding remain high. In the International Division, revenues were up by approximately 31%* year-on-year. The remedial actions implemented in the Middle East by the new management team are having a positive effect on the business albeit the flow through to profitability is taking longer than expected. Following the strong performance in the UK & Ireland, which has continued into the beginning of the second half of the year, Speedy is on track to deliver a result for the full year in line with the Board's expectations. Interim Results Speedy will announce interim results for the six months ended 30 September 2014 on 11 November 2014. There will be a presentation to analysts at 09:30 that morning at the offices of Instinctif Partners, 65 Gresham Street, London EC2V 7NQ.
Good morning to all speedy investers:-))
Good hold today and 1M shares crossed late afternoon. 9.3M sale of shares a couple of weeks ago, still held by the market and yet to be unwound ? All we need now is the US market to end off of its lows tonight, a nice statement from Speedy and some positive forward guidance tomorrow from the company. To quote Sir Alex, 'it could be squeaky bum time !'
lets hope for good update tomorrow but as markets down generally it may not result in any meaningful uplift unless the update is exceptional.
Trading Announcement are out on 16/10/14 good news i hope:-))

Global worries are dragging speedy down, hope some good news on Thursday gives it a boost
Bring on them good figures on Thursday!!!
Let's see next week all you dreamers..!
CORNY?
From the sound of it you couldn't run a bath never mind a plant or tool depot.....rehire is a thing of the past...your words. So are you saying that Speedy do not rehire. Obviously every depot has a budget and this will include qorkshop costs but you did say that the turnaround costs of Eqpt would land with the customer. Read what you have written before you come on here spouting rubbish. Do you work for Speedy or is that just an aspiration of yours?
👊👊👊😡😡😡😭😭😭
You are another who thinks every cost the depot incurs goes against the depot margins you and your cohert "corny" know nothing about running a plant depot and to refer to me as a dreamer and a clown is a bit adventurous. First of all preping a machine for hire is actually paid for by the last user if it outside the normal maintenance shedule comes under cleaning and refurbing for excessive use or abuse in T& Cs .If it is being hired out as a normal flow through depot the prep cost should be covered in the depots overhead operational cost. So if the depot is being run efficiently (which would not have been the case if you two were doing it ) there are no add on costs to the depot. In answer to corny on the question of rehires (Corcoran did not start Rehires they have been a part of the system since the 1980s) but was only used if the depots did not carry the equipment in the fleet it was used mainly to stop competitors getting into the customer on what were seen as exclusive accounts. The reason for buying plant that would not normally be seen as a general item was for the same reason and also to starve competitors of revenue. Plant hire is about service and the service as to be seen as consistent and encompassing so Speedy as to try to be all things to all men if it is to succed in dominating the market. These strategies carry risk but also oppurtunities and the phrase " Stick to what you know and be good at it " is ok if you want to standstill.
HaHa, its all kicking off here with all the plant hire ego's
Where are you mate? This place has turned into an idiot magnet since you went quiet.
There is a trading update coming very soon and we will see which of you plant hire experts knows what they is talking about??? INIT
Agree that margins much better on small tools and non operated plant. But how much of Speedys mix is larger operated plant. It cant be more than 10% which should not dilute earnings by that much. Theymay have to do the bigger stuff to win bigger contracts but the bread and butter will always be the small tools etc from their nationwide branch network where demand is strong and they can compete with the small local players due their huge purchasing power. Definitely not heading for the 50's more like £1 but over time.
Mr C started the cross hire of large plant within Speedy, the cost of testing, breakdowns deprecation fell at the feet of the supplier. Now Speedy have chosen to purchase large plant and the hire rates to the big nationals don't even cover the depreciation, even worse the cost of a tyre on a 6 ton dumper..! Local independents who have survived the recession in all parts of the country will always beat them, in every way. That's why their still trading. 25K machines sat in a yard doing nothing is insane. And as for the clown who thinks to prep a machine and pass that cost on to the customer is dreaming..! Small tools and access (tower) will always return more. Haulage costs are huge, cost, maintanence the same. Leave it alone.! In the fifty's soon..!!!
