June 10, 2023 – Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR), a leading fast-moving consumer goods company, has been making headlines lately with its latest insider trading activity. Graeme Pitkethly, one of the company’s insiders, purchased three shares of ULVR stock on June 8th in a transaction that has stirred the interest of investors worldwide. This move is seen as a sign of confidence in the company and its future prospects.
FIH - Graeme has the same confidence in Unilever as I do in him. 3 share!! That's rocking the world.
Is ULVR sliding due to the higher interest rate environment?
why would one buy ULVR with a 3.5 - 4% yield when the same return can be achieved with gov bonds?
to return a better yield Unilever share price will have to be in the range of £30-35 at best.
So finally the oaf of a FD is going. I suppose better for him to announce his leaving than wait for 1st July to be sacked by a real CEO with enough financial nonce to understand just what a blithering imbecile he is.
Just a shame we have to withstanding him for up to another year. That must be why the SP is down today - nothing to do with product recalls.
If ever a man was promoted beyond his capabilities........
Today published a recall notice on a unilever Dove deodorant product.
Fortunately in the same weekly report many of the other big names such as Loreal and Colgate-palmolive also had recalls for similar compliance failings.
Provided for information as I dont think it will have a large impact on share price, however, someone in their regulatory department clearly dropped the ball on this
Correction, the figures should be 4100-4200, not the 2100-2200 previous, given in error. My apology.
Probably, got first number wrong, should have been 4, not 2. So corrected ought to have been 4100-4200.
Stargate - have you been drinking?
Weekly bear top pivot just in place, so drop.in sp, expected. The medium trendline implies sp, may bottom between 2100-2200. The preceding top pivot, would support sp, 2100-2200 region. Weekly Relative strength indicator, is confirming continued sp, fall. Overall ULVR, is bullish longterm, and 2100-2200, may represent a buying opportunity, when sp, drops to that level.
Marmite-maker Unilever and supermarket Sainsbury's have rejected suggestions that they are not protecting customers from rising prices.
It comes after the Office for National Statistics (ONS) told the BBC that falls in global food prices were not yet being reflected in supermarkets.
Unilever said it was not "profiteering in any form" from rising prices.
Cruusoe, valid point when you want to run a charity.
Companies profits ought to grow at least in line with inflation (that is however unsatisfactory, you want to beat inflation).
If you expect investors to get out less than they invest (against inflation and discounted by the BoE rates) you will live in a world with no industry and empty shelves in supermarkets. Of course you are free to shop elsewhere and boycott. Please let me know where you have not seen inflation and I will join you. Even in German discount shops some products rose by 20-30%. Food inflation is very understated.
Or shafting the customer to pay shareholders. Not me as boycotting products
SP up 6% YTD - should be higher IMHO.
LONDON, April 27 (Reuters) - Unilever smashed quarterly sales forecasts on Thursday as another big rise in prices from the maker of Dove soap and Ben & Jerry's ice cream triggered only a small dip in volumes.
The 10.7% increase in prices was, however, lower than in recent quarters, adding to signs inflationary pressures might be easing as input costs declined.
Packaged goods companies have been hiking prices as they grapple with a surge in costs of everything from sunflower oil and shipping to packaging and grain.
Consumers have so far coped with the cost-of-living squeeze better than many analysts' had expected, but some warn companies could eventually take a hit to margins if shoppers start switching to cheaper brands in greater numbers.
Unilever reported a 10.5% rise in underlying first-quarter sales to 14.8 billion euros ($16.4 billion), beating analysts' average forecast for a 7.2% increase, according to a company-provided consensus.
Nice to see £44 today on no news. Can only be the anticipation of Jope being gone forever in only 10 weeks :)
As far as the Russian thing goes - I'm no economic expert, but if ULVR trades in Russia & profits made in Russia are then moved out of Russia, then that must hurt the Russian economy in some small way? I know for a fact that the majority of the Russian population is against the war, but is too scared to say so. They still deserve Magnums.
Like I said before - soap & ice-cream is not helping the war effort. When Putin is dead the country will need to rebuild an economy & ULVR is there at the start.
On its own a 25% reduction does feel a huge move. For a family if 4, which is probably their core market, I would not necessarily decide to buy 2 packs unless there was a volume deal.
I suspect the bit we don’t see in this move is that they will have to ease it in with heavier promotions in the short to medium term until inflation abates
Time to get out wider world realising ulvr still trading in Russia. No more of their products for me.
Boycott
Was expecting an announcement on when the next tranch of the share buyback will commence but can't see anything. Unless I missing it?
Thank you.
Right at the bottom of the table €0.4268 payable in March
Can’t seem to find the monetary divi announcement for the Q4 payment.
I was waiting for the usual early spring drop to add a few more and maybe aided by Mr Market having a bit of a wobble.
Unfortunately my expected post Christmas dip in the markets hasn't appeared yet. In fact it's been doing quite well. So not great for buying.
Haven't got further than the headlines so need to look more closely at the underlying case. A new captain might stear the company in a better direction too.
RNS looks very good to me. Let's see what market thinks. I will be investing based on these results and the future growth but of course I'll be hoping for a small drop in SP.
lower margin and eps, dont think results are great tbh
i really do not think the divi is bad at all.....on top of that it is about one of the safest in the ftse ....but you are correct with the SP it hasnt done a lot at all.....im happy with the divi for now
