Kallak, I agree that he has no intention of getting them in yet, because we still have a strong chance of a decision coming after the UNESCSO comments, and he hasn't done so prior, because it would have made our position in Sweden very difficult. Now though, we have a Boliden precedent, climate change emergency and focus globally on that, and if forced into it, as in, if Baylan instigates some further nonsensical delay, Kurt, in my view, will take action in order to protect our interests. If it is clear that Kallak will never be allowed to be mined with us involved, albeit one could argue that is already the case. So, I was saying he doesn't intend to, but he will take action if the avenue to mine Kallak is continually being obstructed, without an end in sight.
After UNESCO, what else can possibly prevent a decision, based on all known and emerging factors in favour of a mine?
Hi Sooz. Yes, and I think we've established that communication isn't always two-way. As long as we keep our communication going we are doing the right thing. x
Potential mining life...wow, that's going to have the anti mining activists really worried, we'll have them on here in droves.
'Push comes to shove, it will all be in our favour if Kurt has to get the lawyers in........'
Read this Eric...... Budge has NO INTENTION OF GETTING ANY LAWYERS IN.
If Budge had intention, he would have done so by now!
He is very happy indeed with his £100k+ PA salary, thank you very much!
Yes, Eric...that's the whole points of a communication, it's on record and that makes it meaningful in my book.
Hi Lb. What those letters and communications are though, is at least a factual record of what we've done, the part we've played in this farce of a process. Push comes to shove, it will all be in our favour if Kurt has to get the lawyers in. As will the KU report.
No, I certainly don't feel Kurt has gone backwards, more that Sweden has. But there is pressure on for Sweden not to become an investment black hole. Everything points to a Kallak approval. In my opinion. Once UNESCSO submits its comments, there are no places for Baylan left to hide. Unless he's willing to force us to take legal action. What a national embarrassment that would be. Surely the Boliden situation has opened a few eyes. Even his.
Enough isn't enough for me. I've been in this for nearly eleven years, Kurt has just updated our resource estimate and in the RNS today mentions the resource potentially supporting a 40 year mining life.
Have a good Bank Hol weekend.
Cheers Lb.
I’m afraid I don’t share some of the sentiment around ‘getting closer’. I think Baylan has set out his stall (“sandbagging”) in an attempt to kick the can so far down the road it is out of sight.
I understand Kurt’s approach of making this an environmental play (and I whole heartedly believe it is).
I think the only chance of getting a decision is if massive pressure comes to bear on baylan
Good...thanks Kurt and All, I'm pleased with all the work done.
Well, KallakRidiculous, I'll second that, by which I mean I agree that we are getting closer and I'd also add the company is making good progress; I'm satisfied with that and the upgrade is very good news, as Eric has already said using a new technique, ten years on, it could have been a downgrade
'We are getting closer, I feel.........'
Total *******s!
Morning Eric,
Shouldn’t have any bearing but does, sadly.
Baylan is busy piling up the sandbags to get him through to the next election.
Serious question, Eric. For you, are we not already well beyond the enough is enough stage. Budge has gone backwards, in my opinion.
RNS states the company continues to engage with politicians in Sweden.
I just don't find that credible. Sending letters and emails periodically which are ignored is not meaningful communication in my book.
Sooz, I agree with you. All of Baylan's talk of next year etc does not and should not have any bearing on our application, which, as we know, has been in the melting pot since 2013. I do feel UNESCO will have to be pressed for its comments by the Government, but it's up to Kurt to press the Government to get on with it. The length of time UNESCO has had our case for comment is already inexcusable.
Baylan doesn't want to make a decision it really seems, but Kurt will have to find a way of making it impossible for him not to.
We are getting closer, I feel, but Baylan needs leaning on. Big Stef must be aware of what's occurring, so perhaps Kurt can put the PM under the spotlight instead, to embarrass the Swedes into finally playing fair.
The KU report needs to raise its head again perhaps.
Night night. X
PS...I wish I could have been this inept in my career over the past decade and got away with it...everyone involved here ought to feel pretty small for achieving nothing...!
Kurt could announce that he’s found the next Kimberley gold mine and the share price wouldn’t move...we’re totally tied to bloody Kallak and Swedish shareholders appear totally unmoved and unconcerned that their inept politicians can’t make a simple decision. I’m afraid that I agree that an 8 year delay means nothing, this could easily ramble into 2025 and even beyond...sorry folks, I’m stuck with it but I couldn’t recommend this company positively to any new investors. Every FTSE 100 company has out performed this dog of a share...can you believe that 10 years ago this was trading at 45pence...45 PENCE!!!! It hasn’t touched double digits since 2013...frankly Kurt couldn’t do worse now, taking legal action...walking away...taking a shovel and digging it out the ground himself...nothing is moving this share price!!!!
All these new enquiries don't really have any bearing on why they don't make the decision about Kallak now...the law is enough we're supposed to believe...remember when they tried to make new legislation about the Minerals Policy Law the Riksdag refused to support it. And the Minister is supposed to have said that this UNESCO initiative would complete the decision process. I'm trying to be optimistic... there's continuing political pressure to get this resolved and it can't go on forever, can it.
December 21 for this, October 22 for that. Does this government ever do anything now.....bearing in mind that for BEM, now = 8 years. What a Fu****g shower.
So, to summarise He will be delaying a decision after reports are received, the last one being in October 2022. So at best we are looking at 2023 for a decision and I wouldn't bank on that.
Passing the buck to UNESCO was clearly a smokescreen and a pretty obvious one.
I wish I could be more positive but as long as the Greens prop up the Government this will just rumble on and on. Baylen is so so lucky He is living in such a docile country as Sweden.
Baylan forgot to add:
" which takes us well past the next election, so you can just feck off with your questions about mining permits.
I'll be PM by then. Cheerio for now. "
More blah from Bertie Baylan
Elisabeth Björnsdotter Rahm has asked me what I intend to take for measures to reduce the regulatory hassle in the mining industry and shorten the decision times so that Sweden does not become dependent on mines in China and Congo-Kinshasa.
The Swedish mining and mineral industry is of great importance to Sweden as a country, in the regional and local perspective and outside Sweden's borders. It is about jobs, welfare and extraction of minerals and metals that are important for a green transition. Sweden will continue to develop the mining industry and at the same time be a pioneer in the mineral industry when it comes to sustainable development.
It is important for the government that Sweden has modern and efficient permit processes. The permit processes in the mining and mineral area are regulated in both the Environmental Code and the Minerals Act (1991: 45). The Government has appointed the Environmental Assessment Inquiry (M 2020: 06) with the task of submitting proposals for measures to achieve a more modern and effective assessment in accordance with the Environmental Code, while maintaining environmental protection. The Inquiry will submit its report in December 2021. The Government has also appointed an Inquiry into review processes and regulations for a sustainable supply of innovation-critical metals and minerals (N 2021: 01). The inquiry will analyze and propose changes to review processes and regulations so that better consideration can be given to both a project's local environmental impact and its societal benefits, for example reduced global climate impact, and so that a larger share of the value generated by the mining and mineral industry can benefit the whole country. The inquiry will submit its report at the end of October 2022.
The Government has also commissioned the National Courts Administration, the county administrative boards and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency to produce comprehensive statistics for the environmental assessment. Such statistics are important, not least to monitor the development of processing times and identify appropriate efficiency measures. The assignment was reported on 12 May 2021.
Increasing recycling and strengthening the circular economy are important initiatives that are made, among other things, within the framework of the Government's strategy and action plan for the circular economy. The Government will continue to support the development of sustainable value chains from raw material to input product or end product. In such work, Sweden's mining and mineral industry and the mining cluster as a whole are key players. The Government has also continued its work linked to the Government's strategy Smart Industry, which includes the mining and minerals industry. In the budget bill for 2021, the government also finances an investment in metals and minerals from secondary sources.
I meant a cut and paste.
That woman again...if you can't get the link because of the ****, here's a cut and pastye@
to Minister of Trade and Industry Ibrahim Baylan (S)
"For many years, Sweden has been at the top of the international ranking list for mining nations, but has unfortunately lost heavily in recent years. This is due to the increasingly extensive regulatory hassle and the fact that it takes too long to obtain all the necessary permits.
The moderates want a strong mining industry that creates new jobs, that meets the need for critical minerals and that does not give up the environment. Then measures are required for the complicated rules that today surround the mining industry and hamper development.
In view of this, I would like to ask Minister of Trade and Industry Ibrahim Baylan:
What does the Minister intend to take for measures to reduce the regulatory hassle in the mining industry and shorten the decision times so that Sweden does not become dependent on mines in China and Congo-Kinshasa?"
Rule hassle and long decision times

Much appreciated.
Troaj/SJ, that was a whopping trade and they were stuffed on such an awful price. Weird that whomever it was sold after a resource upgrade RNS.
Can't fathom it at times. Well, I rarely know what is going on. Lol.
Down more the next!
