Let's hope the new reg sales are up again and driving this forward. Still long waits for the evoque I see.
U following JJB? If so what's ur take on it? Soz guys for being off topic. Cheers
I agree with eyeguy that there is little likelihood of short term gain here. Those days are over for now. The sp now reflects a sensible valuation of a slightly risky motor dealer, given the high level of debt to service. Both Lookers and Inchcape are trading on higher p/es but they don't have very much debt. I suspect the price will still be around 15-16p in the run up to year-end results next year.
The share price fell because of Pendragon reporting cash flow incorrectly in the year end results. Apparently it was circa £33m overstated. As far as i am aware this has now been rectified but obviously it is not good to build trust with shareholders on mistakes in the accounts.
No expert myself but have held these for a while and sit on a tidy profit of 300 perc over 5 years across my portfolio. Think historically these shares fall a bit after RNS. Probably the market expects them to do better and the realisation sets in that they have massive debts that are going to take a while to pay back, hence the sell off. My gut says it is better as medium to long term bet. Maybe ask MATHS PROF as he/she seems clued up on the share. Cheers. Good luck
with todays drop all seems a bit harsh,, im no expert on this share and was wondering if i could get an insight from group as im tempted to dip in today for short term gain over comming weeks? any thoughts gla
If I understand correctly PDG paid back 26 million of debt in the last 6 months. The asset value is about 19.7p per share So share price is about 80 percent of assets. I know this contains goodwill but is this a reasonable share value when taking into account the assets of the company or should it be higher
A pleasing set of results - justifying the recent rise to 16p - but no more, I would suggest. Price is finally back to where we were before the rights issue last year - any further rise will have to be justified by further growth.
OUTLOOK The Group's initiatives in the aftersales sector have helped alleviate the reduction in the key market of the less than three-year-old car parc. The Group's strategy to focus on the used sector will continue. Given the improving trend in used margin shown in the second quarter of this year we expect continued positive performance from used cars. The new sector is showing encouraging signs of recovery in all divisions which has helped support profitability in the period. Our Stratstone.com, Evanshalshaw.com and Quicks.co.uk websites remain central to our long-term business growth. Visits to these websites rose by 24.5% in the period. The expected stability of aftersales coupled with continuing used gross margin improvement and a new car market that is expected to grow further is encouraging for the second half of the year. Overall, the Group continues to progress and is performing in line with Board's expectations for the full year.
Profit Before Tax Profit before tax was £23.6 million which compared to £18.2 million in the prior year, an increase of £5.4 million on the prior year.
Trevor Finn, Chief Executive commented: "Overall the Group delivered results for the first half in line with our expectations. Our New and Used sectors performed particularly well over the six month period, with results across the Group generally improving into the second quarter of 2012. Trading momentum in New and Used is expected to continue into the second half of the year and the Group's current performance remains consistent with the Board's expectations for the full year. In line with earlier statements, it remains the Board's intention that the Company resumes paying dividends in relation to its 2012 financial year and onwards."
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY · Overall first half performance is in line with our expectations. · New vehicle volume growth of 13.9% on a like for like basis# outperformed the market. · Used vehicle volume growth of 7.5% on a like for like basis# outperformed the market. · Website visits to Stratstone.com, Evanshalshaw.com and Quicks.co.uk up 24.5% over the prior year.
