Like many of us he never sold when it made the 40s recently, we must all do whats right for us.
Baron's actual tweet was:
Holding #OPHR will shift some when the mkts reopen Weds.'Boards of Ophir and Medco confirm they are in discussions about a possible cash offer to be made by Medco for the entire issued and to be issued share capital of Ophir' . Deadline 28 Jan #OphirEnergy https://www.ophir-energy.com/press-release/statement-regarding-the-potential-acquisition-of-ophir-energy-plc-ophir-by-pt-medco-energi-global-pte-ltd-medco-a-wholly-owned-subsidiary-of-pt-medco-energi-in/ …
I took it that he was looking to shift a few too...
Fingers crossed for a prosperous month!
Just hope they don't suspend, that would pizz me off.
So with a bankable 70.4mmboe 2P's even this alone will give 78p/s on market rate of $10barrel .
With in excess of 27kbopd and looking to up that to at least 33kbopd, and producing around $300m pa free cash-flow for the next 3 years, an opening opportunistic offer of around 60p will not be out of the question.
Negotiations have to start somewhere, it's where they end up is what counts.
Looking forward to a great day tomorrow.

My average.
£1
My average. Maybe it will triple.. Seriously. Lucky to be north of 50p. Take over average 40% premium if past is prologue for similar acquisition. I'm praying for counter bid. If we stay below 40p might average down.
Called this situation a couple of months ago, but lost faith and sold some at 42p. Average around 60p for the rest. Concern that the current bidder might pull out by 28th Jan (mentioned in release as a possibility), so might be better to sell and bank on an immediate spike. All imho of course. Currently very undervalued share, but these are not easy times to make rigid plans..
I was beginning to think that I was overweight here by my standards with a average of 36.7 and starting to get a bit impatient if I'm honest ready to scale down, I remember when I held out with smdr and could have had 1.20 but eventually settled for the takeover price of 80, on hindsight was the wrong move because ophr was almost £4 at the time, so this one owes me anyway and if I have learned one thing ( don't be to greedy ( not intended as advice, just my opinion.
Your post is smack on ....there is way too much value here especially if they revive Fortuna and Tanzania is a go go. I’m going to hold...... rather stay put n if all fails then still probably be up 20-30% on my holding rather than missing out on possibly 200-300% gains because as many probably know .... ophr will wtttact others and their assets are world class. It’s like they can get $300m-500m easily for the 20% in Tanzania tomorrow if they wanted to. Hold on chaps ..... it’s about to blow
Don't forget Santos that could be worth a fair bit to, just remembered that as well as my shares I have a spreadbet @ £220 per point ( already in profit.
Arielarrow. How r u mate. I’m gona be honest , I’m lucky I got in low and have a fair amount. I’m gona bite my tongue and probably hold unless there’s a 150% spike .... it’s just that we as investors go through so much on the downside yet jump ship way to early when it moves on the upside. Fact is that 30s -40s will be more or less gone forever, like u said if it settles on 53-55p + then I’m very happy. The fact there’s nothing else that will catch the headlines suggests to me there will be most toms and a few Harry’s that will Jump on board here. 60-70p intra day high is more or less certain !!!
I am lucky to have a low average here (compared to others) of approx 40p and I can't help recalling the last share I was in that was in a buyout situation. It was a very different scenario in that the SP had fallen off a cliff due to financial issues, the share was Sepura which some may know of. Wild and lofty predictions were made of 50 and 75p and the offer came in at..... 20p, I was disgusted naturally but I learned to take my profits when they present themselves. Now Ophir is completely different and if as some say it soars tomorrow I'll probably take some off the table as my last buyout lost me a fair wad of cash due to my high average and my stupidity/greed, this may be my chance to redeem that loss. Best of luck to all holders and those looking to get in tomorrow.
I'm sure that news was leaking towards the close yesterday and remember thinking it odd that the UT was a lot higer than the last trades.
AA, agree, demand for stock will be high, or should be, given the rock bottom starting price and how extremely oversold this is due to months of SP manipulation ... could easily see a +30m shares traded tomorrow. Very high volatility is a given imo, so focus on the end game and not minute by minute SP movements, as +10% swings will be aplenty, the BoT will be working overtime.
Day traders will be swarming over this board from tomorrow so enjoy our last moments of sanity.
I will be happy with a close above 53p ( our price only 6 months ago) as a stable platform to move on from.
Looking forward to TR-1's and who's involved.

So will you be holding untill such time?
The key will be Tanzania and its value. Forget EG for now. Shell n co with the government of Tanzania are pushing for gas to be produced by 2021-23. Ophir sold 20% of the licence field for $1.3b and STILL hold 20%. Not they have some 3-4tcf which is about 500mboe NET to them. As I keep saying .... negotiations HAVE started because they are talking figures which Ophir are considering and as always they must have seen a process towards proof of funds ..... THIS will be fruitful for many and 26 days gives many others to come n take a look especially Thailand / Japan / China / and far east conglomerates who can stump up billions without much fuss especially if they really really want something.
would be nice
That crossed my mind also, I just thought it odd but perhaps it was poorly worded on his behalf. Anyway it matters little, we will see what happens tomorrow. Best of luck all.
What Baron said is that Ophir should shift some, he implied that there will be a demand for shares.
I personally feel that they are looking to pounce on Ophir´s low SP. Yesterday´s "Block R Licence, Equatorial Guinea" RNS puts doubt on Ophir continuing its operations there.
https://www.investegate.co.uk/ophir-energy-plc--ophr-/rns/block-r-licence--equatorial-guinea/201812311016368013L/
Yes. Rns will be issued as it was only a press release yesterday. That will shake up the rest of the mms who might not be wit it early Wednesday morning lol.
Yes, they Ophir will announce it tomorrow. The RNS is already published on the website of MedkoEnergi (see bottom of page)
http://www.medcoenergi.com/en/home/index
Does this news warrant an RNS in morning
@MPL50, Very strange I thought especially as he is stating it in advance. But like I said perhaps I misread the tweet, there may be another meaning to his statement? But as NewKOTB points out he want want a much higher SP than where we sit currently before he sells a portion. IIRC he bought approx 2 million pounds worth a few months back.
