Nice to see the BEO forum back up and running.

Kurt can't give us a timescale for an environmental permit as it depends on each individual case and is subject to the court. Average is between 9-18 months according to the sgu and Swedish websites but obviously anything can happen. All Kurt can say is the goal for production is 2026. Timescales given are permit applied for q4, BFS 2024, build 2025, produce 2026. I think that's a fair timescale myself.
He can't give strict timescales as no one knows for each individual component leading up to production. Whilst waiting for enviro permits and the company can get on with feasibility studies.
It is perfectly reasonable to expect permits to be in place by some point in 2025 to allow a construction start.
Ok Maddog. Yep, could be. Need to get more exercise in to help.
Cheers matey.
Lb, that’s a fair point. We are mulling this over because we only have very loose timescales for major events, which is poor.
Pocko, the difference is that the environmental application goes to the Land and Environmental Court, not the Government, so it is hopefully more rigid as to timescale. You are right though, a clear road map from Kurt would be appropriate.
Is it any wonder that day after day, dozens of posts guessing what the company is doing / planning?
Because Budge doesn't know himself, is an awful communicator and only bothers to communicate at all when he needs more cash.
Endless conjecture is pointless when the bloke who is in charge is clueless.
As for "Its all there in the RNS"....what is? I've read it at least three times and I'm not seeing what he sees.
Speaking as "some people" I'd like to say I wish our critical friend would change the record...his insistence that he's absolutely right isn't critical debate it's bullying...and I can't figure out why he's doing his daily rant, we heard it the first time. And some people completely disagree with him.
eric you have got 2 or3 weeks of feeling weak
It's there in the RNS EricDraven... It's not as simple as submitting the environmental application... One in turn leads to the other. And once submitted, it's at the mercy of the Swedish authorities - What evidence do you see that things will move quickly, given the treatment of our company historically?
So yes, it's clearly an inconvenient truth to some on this board.
As I've stated, Budge should publish a clear road map for investors ...
Ok Sooz. Thanks for your reply. Yes, I guess whatever compliances we have to make will be made.
I’m not as sick now. Just weak. Hoping to be better next week.
Thanks Sooz.
Night night. xx
Evening Eric...A bit late, the witching hour...but I'll be out tomorrow. The Norra Karr business if you can remember it called for an extra investigation which The Boss at the time (can't remember if it was Jan Ola L****n or Fred Bowman) said was supposed to be done during the environmental permit process, and it was changing the goal posts for the Exploitation Concession.. Its too long ago for me to state the details accurately but I didn't want to overlook your question which I do sometimes but then only because I'm posting too much and getting on people's nerves...and it's a bit irrelevant except if we've done it that's good. Lol.
Nighty night...hope you're feeling better.
Nighty night, hope you're feeling better. x
Thanks Pocko. So what do you mean then by the inconvenient truth?
The process is clearly outlined in an RNS issued 6-weeks ago EricDraven. The timeframe remains unclear beyond the stated 2026, unless there is a work plan in place?
And until the outcome of the environmental permit is known, how can the applications for the other permits conform to any parameters set by the environmental permit?
Chicken and the egg...
Sooz, not sure why you feel the Land Designation Permit may have anything to do with the Norra Karr ruling. What we could do with though is a proper timescale for submission of each of these permits and perhaps a brief explanation of what is involved. If the mine is set to come into action in 2026, then all elements required to be fulfilled prior must surely already be known. Including timelines.
Evie. x
Pocko, if I recall correctly, the BFS is scheduled for 2024, with mine build marked for 2025. The point being, if mine build is 2025, all of those permits surely must be obtained in 2024. Not applied for, but obtained.
If we are indeed making rapid progress, then obtaining the relevant permits in good time shouldn’t be a stretch. Isn’t that another reason why we have Ulla? She is familiar with the permitting processes and we trust will therefore manage timely submission. So far we only know when the first permit will (loosely) be applied for, but surely the rest is in hand. So I don’t believe any of it is an inconvenient truth, because it’s all manageable, the requirements laid out with no surprises. Ulla and Kurt know what is required.
PS It's Sweden yes, which is one of the reasons some people including myself invested in this in the first place, long ago. But today it's a politically different Sweden not just in Swedish terms but in International terms.
Whether or not it is inconvenient, whether or not we know it, whether or not we've read it ....the Company knows it and the Company have said production by 2026...so let that sink in. Either you believe it or you don't...it's optional.
Re Item 2...Land Designation Permit which includes Stakeholder engagement...some of that might have been done already as a result of the Norra Karr ruling.
From the RNS dated the 24thJanuary 2023... An inconvenient truth for those that care to read and digest it
"The Kallak North Exploitation Concession provides Jokkmokk Iron with exclusive mining rights in the defined areas for a period of 25 years; however, before operations can start three additional permits are required:
1. Environmental Permit (Swedish: Miljötillstånd) will be applied for following completion of an Environmental Social Impact Assessment ("ESIA") and associated stakeholder engagement process;
2. Land Designation Permit (Swedish: Markanvisning) will be required to define the industrial area associated with the mining operation (such as tailings, waste rock, processing plant) and also involves stakeholder engagement; and
3. Building Permit (Swedish: Byggnadstillstånd) will be required prior to construction."
2026?
In stating production by 2026...are they setting themselves up to fail or to succeed? I'm opting for success...nobody sets themselves up for failure and the last nine years is a failure of the Swedish Government...there's a different Government in place now with an agenda more friendly towards business enterprise, we hope.
"It's production, Chuteless...production of an iron ore direct feed product. :-)"
Yeah right ;)
application of the Environmental Permit in Q4 2023 .
say minimum 6-9 months for approval without any objections etc that is mid -late 2024
which leaves 2025 to submit planning , get approval and build a mine infrastructure even say end of 2026 , IN SWEDEN !!
IMHO iron ore wont be out of the ground at kallak before 2028
Sorba777...Thanks, same to you. :-)
"...something might happen in 2026."
It's production, Chuteless...production of an iron ore direct feed product. :-)
Thunberg hasn't got her fingers on it yet can only hope for the best certainly been ugly here good health to all bem, ers
In response to Chuteless about Work Permits...I presume the exploitation licence covers the permission to drill?
