Is serious about making money on their investment in BEM, it is now time to petition Kurt to play the legal card. Unless this is taken through the courts, the Swedish government will continue forever to publicly disrespect their own laws and a company which has behaved professionally and with the ethics the swedes can never hope to equal. ATB.
...has not had.... We've been had. Lol.
Lol.
I wouldn't say entertainment. Which brings me back to Pocko's bell cheese. I wonder, had anyone on here got an industrial strength scraper? Cheers 3card.
If this is your idea of fun, please miss me off your next party invite list.
The two week extension is a big deal, insofar as the Sami has two weeks further now to attempt to pick apart Kurt's letter, which only today is in the public domain. This extension should not have been given. It is not the Sami's application, nor are they officially part of any stage in this process of the granting or otherwise of a licence. In my opinion. Cheers Geo.
Cheers Tintin. Just seen that, thanks. He should have known it would find its way onto Facebook. Glad he's issued another RNS with his letter attached. Atb.
It's been a lot of fun...and it ain't over yet. :-)
I bet they've cooked Kurt some nice home-made meatballs and lingonberry jam.
er.....patience? #runsforcover
He's got a point, you could have blown all that money on a designer handbag for the missus, whereas with this investment you've had 7 years entertainment. It's all relevant Bud.
Not sure if this has been aired before but it gives a flavour of the mindset of the decision makers, especially at the end of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6POdf33u2-4
What has happened to the Swedish Advisory Board, appointed by the company 2 years ago. A collection of Swedish grandees with impeccable credentials and contacts in the mining and political arenas? I see no tangible benefit from their appointment? Anybody?
The request made for a time extension is annoying because, of everything that has gone on before. However, the granting of such only illustrates that, the democratic application process remains open and that, no decision as yet, has been made. If we do one day, find ourselves involved in a legal arena, as some here believe may be necessary, then this further illustration would have real value. Just may be, those who made the request for the time extension, may also share some disappointment in the Governments granting of. We simply dont know, but nor does the Government, and thats a good reason to grant it. In my opinion only. atb
is on the website (rns) - shortly to be made into a film.
don't tell me what happens in the end....
This film is due out tomorrow, it;s by the anti-mine brigade https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Ftempofestival.se%2Fprogram%2Fgallok%2F&edit-text=&act=url "GLLOK We are struck by a crackling fire and mildew forests. Beautiful scenery scenes where humans put their untiring tracks. Gllok is a film about mining in northern Sweden, its strong economic forces - and the feelings it awakes. Tor Lundberg is a natural photographer and active in the battle against the newly planned mine in Gllok. In addition to the obvious traces a digging would put on the environment, it would be devastating to the drainage of the area. The mining companies from southern Sweden and the United Kingdom are set against the population of the village, but the locals are also facing each other. Many believe that a mine would be the rescue for the village. In addition to portraying a battle between David and Goliat, Gllok is a loving portrait of a father's and daughter's faith in and work for a common goal. "
Agree totally, they have disregarded everything Kurt said in the RNS and are laughing in his face.
Agreed. Straightforward. Decision should have been left with the Government 1st time around.
I've loaded it on dropbox for you and for info I sent to Kurt so he is aware... https://www.dropbox.com/s/3qg26ip8ztfqmnu/28871127_10214820482081568_73088125997086860_n.jpg?dl=0
There is a distinction to be made between respect for Sami culture and collusion with those who would oppose the mine. Paying respect after 5 years as a good reason to make no decision just does not was for me. Sorry.
I suspect that the reason why this particular Sami community didn't answer by the deadline date is that they do not respect the deadline date. They don't like being dictated to by a remote Government in Stockholm. The Government shows respect for the cultural difference and will play to the Sami tune until the Government is satisfied that the Sami understand that the Government has indeed bent over backwards to please the Sami during this consultation process. That is a pretty good reason to give them two more weeks before the Government hands out the decision that the Sami don't want to hear.
God no......but I am going to have a go at the annual "I wonder when they will make a decision" contest. I say 5 May the Minister will indicate that the application appears to have satisfied the requirements. I am reluctantly prepared to accept a decision before that date. If that doesn't happen I will deny all knowledge of this prediction.
The fact that Sweden has had hundreds of productive mines for many generations tells me the test of Sami rights has already been settled? No?
Can I ask, are you honestly expecting a decision straight after 19 March?
