If they've managed to get 4.3% they're not irrelevant, they only had 6.9% before when they held the balance of power plus the Left. Oh, dear, that's a lot of dust there to settle.
so...who want to work with the Sweden Democrats?
Center left block 40.6% Center right block 40.3% Sweden democrats 17.6%

Go Beowulf!
Sweden Headed for Political Gridlock After Inconclusive Electionweden may face weeks or even months of political gridlock after an inconclusive election result left the biggest Scandinavian economy without a clear candidate to form a government.
Neither the Social Democrat-led coalition of Prime Minister Stefan Lofven nor the opposition Alliance bloc won enough votes to form majority governments.
Sweden is the latest European country in which a populist surge fueled by anti-immigration sentiment is changing the political landscape. Though Lofven has presided over an economic upswing that has fed a rise in employment, Sunday’s vote shows many Swedes were more concerned about tackling a record influx of foreigners after about 600,000 immigrants entered the country over the past five years.
A preliminary count of about 82 percent of electoral districts gave Lofven’s parties 144 seats in the 349-member parliament, and the Alliance 142 seats. The anti-immigration Sweden Democrats, which aren’t part of either bloc, were poised to get about 63 seats, not quite as many as some pre-election polls indicated but significantly better than in 2014.

Best news I have had for weeks, hoping the Greens get nowt and take their negativity elsewhere.
2130: The 300,000 votes from Swedes abroad, and people who cast their ballots late may play a key part in the result, which looks like it is going to be close. The final tally will only be announced on Wednesday.
Either way we don't need to worry about Greens interfering anymore....
If the greens get nothing it affectively hands ‘victory ‘ to the Alliance. And if either side is willing to talk to SD then that’s a game changer.
electoral system
The Swedish Riksdag is made up of 349 MPs, and all are elected through open list proportional representation on multi-member party lists that are either regional (most major parties) or national (Sweden Democrats). Each of the 29 constituencies has a set number of parliamentarians that is divided through constituency results to ensure regional representation. The other MPs are then elected through a proportional balancing, to ensure that the numbers of elected MPs for the various parties accurately represent the votes of the electorate. The Swedish constitution (Regeringsformen) 1 Ch. 4 § says that the Riksdag is responsible for taxation and making laws, and 1 Ch. 6 § says that the government is held responsible to the Riksdag. This means that Sweden has parliamentarism in a constitutional monarchy—ensuring that the government is appointed by the people's representatives; the Prime Minister is therefore indirectly elected. A minimum of 4% of the national vote is required for a party to enter the Riksdag, alternatively 12% or more within a constituency.
Greens got 6.9% last time and so got 25 seats (out of 349)- exact proportional representation. If they 4.4% they should get about 14 so minimal effect in Parliament - unlikely to be the balance of power. If they get less than 4% then they get nothing.......
My only concern is Beowulf - We need to see less support for the Sami and more support for jobs in rural areas. I suspect the Greens will still be around tomorrow but less in number. The Social Democrats will have to listen to the Sweden democrats and can therefore easily justify supporting mining rather than the Greens (with a quarter of the vote). I think we should see a big jump tomorrow - especially if the Greens get less than 4%. Either way we should see a better political climate for Beowulf. The licence will take a while longer but a nod from the new Mining Minister, preferably NOT that useless Damberg, will see us through.
Keep the faith!
The out-going Prime Minister Stefan Lofven describes the Sweden Democrats (SD) as "racist", which, given they are expected to gain 19.2% of the votes, would mean he considers that same percentage of Sweden's voting population is "racist". Talk about disconnect. Perhaps, if he had properly engaged with voters, he might understand their concerns, and what they want for their country. He was, after all, supposedly running the country for them.
2110: As votes continue to be counted, the Social Democrats retain their lead but with a share reduced from the 31 percent they took in 2014. Their alliance partners, the Greens, have also seen their share down from 6.9 percent in 2014 to only just above the 4 percent threshold needed to win seats in the Riksdag.
2010: Half of the votes have been counted: Here are the latest percentage figures, according to Sweden's SVT public broadcaster:
Social Democrats: 28.1
Moderates: 19.3
Sweden Democrats: 17.9
Left Party: 8.1
Centre Party: 8.8
Christian Democrats: 6.4
Liberal Party: 5.4
Green Party: 4.4
A 3rd of the vote counted:
"The Green Party is flirting with the 4% line to get into Parliament. Lots of left bloc supporters nervously watching that number. Would be a disaster for them if the Greens don't make it."
and;
1945: Green Party MP Maria Ferm has told Radio Sweden her party risks falling below the 4 percent threshold needed to have a seat assigned in the Swedish parliament. An SVT exit poll put the Green Party at 4.2 percent of the vote.
normally I can't stand these right wing parties but the Social Democrats have been so inept with beowulf I think they will get what they deserve;
Sweden's nationalist anti-immigration party has made gains in the country's general election as the establishment parties appear deadlocked, exit polls predict.
The Sweden Democrats (SD) are expected to achieve 19.2% of the vote.
The party, described by Prime Minister Stefan Lofven as "racist", held 12.9% of the ballot in the previous election.
Neither the governing Social Democrats nor the centre-right bloc of parties are predicted to win a majority.
An exit poll by public broadcaster SVT suggested the centre-right Alliance won 39.6% of the vote, slightly more than the Social Democrats on 39.4%.
"Polling stations have now closed and votes are being counted. We are expecting a partial tally of the vote from Sweden’s Election Authority between 9pm and 10pm UK time. Final results should follow a couple of hours later."
A poll of FB shows the Greens at 3.4%... Even the worst case scenario is now better than the previous scenario.
The worst case scenario I think now has to be further delays while they sort out who will govern. The Greens will surely be out of the picture. Even an SD/Left Party alliance would be an improvement wouldn't it? Anyone have any info on Left Party attitude to mining?
Swedish Democrats have been polling around 20% for a while... the thought is they will achieve higher...
True about SD voters... plenty voted for UKIP, but try finding one who did!
A guy on FB thinks the Greens gave less than 4% on another poll... difficult to tell. Exit polls are as unreliable!
"SD voters tend not to answer, even in exit polls."
Swedish Television exit poll (2nd poll after TV4)
Left Party 9.0%
Social Democrats 26.2%
Greens 4.2%
Moderates 17.8%
Liberals 5.5%
Christian Democrats 7.4%
Sweden Democrats 19.2%
Left Bloc 39.4%
Right Bloc 39.6%
Knowing our luck they will now spend months forming a government.
And relax...
And who isn’t emotionally exhausted by all this? It’s been a long ride, but I do believe that we are at the business end. What low ball could possibly come our way now?
It’s exciting stuff. To be clear, I’m of the opinion that it won’t result in an immediate outcome for BEO, and that the wheels will continue to turn in the civil service behind the scenes; But what it will do is change the political landscape in our favour, and that has got to be a good thing!
