There are many followers of AEN that never post..it's been the case for 3years? AEN has a unique and special investor base! Expecting bullish news from Vaca Muerta and Columbia?
But noticed Lse and iii bb's were always very VERY quiet and tbought there was hardly any following. As such, I was totally in awe as AEN began its amazing rise from 14p to 70p. So don't let the lack of posters put you off...this can gain incredible momentum on good news? dyor
...from 24p and believe this stock can recover most of the losses. I recently bought back in. gla
I have seen this many times. IMO over the next couple of months the oil price should finally settle and move slowly back up and if you combine this with Argentina's elections later in the year this looks to me a very interesting entry point. Clearly also the progress on Colombia could have an impact. The only person I have seen commenting on the stock is Malcy on his blog, but clearly verybody needs to do their due diligence etc.
Good observation. Could be a steady rise to 40p ?
I'm not sure how many of you have noticed this but the stock price has touched at the end of last week 17p and is now bouncing up. I don't think this is a coincidence from a chart perspective as 17p what the low seen twice during the last 5 years (touched both in September 2010 and both July + August 2013). IMO this is very interesting especially as the stock on both occasions has than risen considerably to levels between 40 and 60p.

.. it was just incremental ... let's see what they come up with at their presentation in London tomorrow, presume it will go up on the web site ... superb value down below 20p ... GL
No comment from anyone about yesterday's announcement of production starting at another successful well in the Vaca Muerta shale play.

Don't know why the seller is selling but most days we have an AT attack early doors, usually in lots of 5000. Because there is very little liquidity in the share, these sells are having a big effect. On the positive, read that Soros has made his biggest investment into YPF and that when Kirchner was in NY for her UN speech, she had a meeting with the big man - guess he has had the assurances he needs for his big shale play in Vaca Muerta. He is also invested, long time, in SLE and other hopefuls on shale in Poland. I have been grinding my teeth there for several years waiting for the commercial find, something we don't have to do with Vaca Muerta cos it is already producing commercially. But wait we must for value to be recognised here. If I sense a bottom, will buy some more as we have great assets and prospects and currently growing our production too.
Does anyone know why such a big drop in price recently?
It is not correct to compare Petroamerica value ratios with Andes ratios. Most of the Andes value comes from its position in the Vaca Muerta unconventional shale acreage, not from current production or ebitda. To do that properly, you need to adjust Andes value, deducting the value of Vaca Muerta acreage first, and then do the ratios with the EV residual conventional value and compare them with other pure conventional E&P companies.
Based on that article, AEN trades with very high ratios. With 1,600 bopd production, AEN currently trades $218,000/boepd and 35 times its 2014 EBITDA. AEN is the most expensive company among the 8 peers mentioned in the article, and PTA (Petroamerica Oil) is the cheapest one.
The first detailed article from Seeking Alpha that compares AEN to several other Latin American producers, was out this morning: http://seekingalpha.com/article/2549985-petroamerica-oil-welcome-to-the-cheapest-oil-producer-worldwide-part-1

We have had a mid-day AT attack the last 2 days - will it be 3 in a row? If they take it much lower, I'll think about toppping up as this share might be illiquid but that doesn't make it a 'bad' share, just way off the radar. Shale and Argentina are both unloved, for now, but see Soros has just gone big into YPF, our partners in the Vaca Muerta so not everone is blind and chasing todays 'hot' stuff.
Good to see that Andes are moving ahead with their assets in Colombia. In my mind a good deal as we are gaining a strong local partner (Trayectoria), and possibility of further deals with them down the line, for shares at the current SP. There is no point in sitting on licences - they are there to be developed and as we don't have the cash to go it alone, getting in good partners at a good price is ideal. Trayectoria are one of the top 5 Colombia E&P companies with further operations in Brasil - their licences are in Sergipe which is where we have also have a stake (possible further tie up with them in Brasil down the line?) - and Guatemala - a serious company indeed.
Oh dear. Not at all. It's not a very active board. It's great to have some feedback. I've been invested for a while now and have taken the view that these are a long term hold - bottom drawer share. Great prospects though. Thank you for the feedback. All the best and GL. --Gwen.
Sorry - i appear to have killed off this board !
I was at the presentation last week, though i am not invested here i do have the shares on my watch list. Seemed to be a generally positive show - but aren't they all ! Became more interested at the end when presenter said that he expected the number of producing wells next year would increase from 2000 to between 3500 and 4000 ! This one for me is investable for me - IMHO but don't really have any spare funds available. BigC
AEN +2.31% so far this morning. Early birds finding wurms?
