That page was updated yesterday. https://www.thevehiclegroup.com/page-sitemap.xml

Great to see the calibre of their customers and that they are now promoting it.

S2020

It was an inadvertent discovery as I was searching for something else and noticed it and vaguely recognised the company name. It would be nice if we could pick up contracts through TVG

16th May fleet update, but as I say the TVG website update is new

"Machines has recently signed an agreement with UK distributor, The Vehicle Group ("TVG"), to help accelerate sales and installation rates across UK and Ireland. TVG has over 300,000 vehicles across Europe fitted with their technology and is a market leader in Automotive Camera Technology, Vehicle Safety, Telematics and Automation technology. TVG will complement the business development undertaken by the Seeing Machines' direct business development team and will facilitate accelerated installations across the region."

Mirabeau, good spot, I checked last week and no mention of Guardian on website. Could be a very good distributor, I would like to see the first sale announced.

The clue to the camera is in the text. It was located 'in the future'. I expect we will find ours there in the A-pillar with a light bar replacing the trim in on the dash

How can you monitor driver behaviour?
Eva Lahti: “In the future we will introduce cameras and driver monitoring that will not only look at the steering input, but also the driver’s eyes and posture to recognise if the driver is drowsy or perhaps under the influence of alcohol or drugs. And if the system detects that the driver shouldn’t actually be driving the car, it will warn them. This is just monitoring the driver here and now – we will not record the information or send it anywhere. The important thing to remember is that this is not surveillance of the driver.”

How much of an issue is driver distraction?
Eva Lahti: “At Volvo Cars, we say that you as a driver are always responsible for driving your car and that should be your main focus. You shouldn’t look away. But we know it doesn’t always work like that. People make short glances to the driver display, to the centre display, to the rear-view mirror. And glances are OK so long as your main focus is on the road. The problem is that with more and more assistance in cars these days, it’s easy to over-trust the car. You might be thinking, ‘the car is steering itself, so I can check emails or change the destination on the map’, but it is actually never OK to do that – even though you’re driving in assisted mode and the car is helping you to steer and keep a safe distance to the car in front. There is a lot of discussion about automated cars and automated drive but, to be clear, there are no automated cars today.”

Images from an evening on the streets of Gothenburg
Robert Thomson: “When you’re driving, you’re looking at the road for only 85% of the time. So what are you doing with the other 15%? We have to figure out how we get this human, who is easily bored and distracted, to arrive at their destination safely. What I notice, and we see it in our research too, is that people play with their cell phones – especially on the highway – they talk with the people beside them, they eat and drink. It’s these secondary tasks which can be dangerous.”

Different to all the other contracts? We win them before production and announce them then we get paid a fee. Why has that all been skipped? Or am I missing something

The circular thing in the middle of the dash is a speaker. Is that what you mean?

I have been messing around with creating my own Volvo XC90 and I can't see anything that mentions DMS as an "optional equipment" or "package" so I assume it is standard.

The more and more I read on Toyota and TRI-AD the more and more I believe that SEE has won the DMS contract. Not just because of the pictures and our best in class DMS but because of the call centre capabilities.

“Recover consciousness and/or be recommended to rest through the conversation with agent”.

SEE already has the infrastructure capable of achieving this with the Arizona call centre. Add a 24hr call centre operation when we win the contract and voila we have exactly what Toyota and Volvo are promising.

I don’t recall our biggest competitor SEYE having a call centre.

RE: Autonomous Planes
Tue 23:14
No need to apologise fella.

Look I agree that our aviation arm will be very successful not just in aircrafts but ATC towers, simulators, military and more. However, I do not think that passenger aircrafts will be fully autonomous with one pilot for a very long time because changing that “safety” culture/feeling of having two will be a tremendous task. I certainly would not get on a plane that didn’t have a human pilot in the cockpit. Look what has happened with Boeing and the MCAS system which is a technological error that has crashed two planes with over 300 people in and look at the backlash. Can you imagine if an airline decided not to have pilots to save some pennies and their plane then went and crashed? It would be disastrous, this is people’s lives at stake.
The technology may be here but the culture and trust is not and wont be for a very long time.

Sch, I have looked again, but above the mirror is too high. Perhaps at the top of the instrument panel between date and temperature. Still a location that is going to catch sun though. Higher in the cabin avoids the sun but harder to see the eyes, especially with glasses. Perhaps behind darlek on the horizontal bar but that looks like a storage area. or in the bar above the instruments, but if not a camera perhaps the leds are there. Or maybe there wasn't a camera...

If you follow the link to explore XC90, you can get 360 view of the interior. Darlek on the dash seems to be a grid of some sort. I suspect the camera may be in darkish plastic above the mirror, where it faces the occupants at the correct angle down?

Non of the 4 Smart Eye AB Patents from 2018/19 have any Mosaics that show the camera in any other position than directly in front of the driver from my brief skim. The central positioning also lends it self to occupant monitoring which I believe also is not covered in any SE Patent.

Yes, in a name. So, only up to 37mph, so convenience, so bang goes Vision 2020.

Maybe the camera is there due to the sun issue?

Haven't seen the camera in that location before. And the caption after the '94%.....' bit calls it 'City Safety....' so I'm assuming for low speeds. Therefore it could be our friends SEYE?

More than happy to be proved wrong.

I assume the spherical 'Dalek Eye' in the centre left of the dash is the camera. Not a shape or position I've seen before but that tells me nothing.

2nd last bullet point on that video

"94% of accidents are caused by human factors"

SM have world renowned Dr Mike

SEYE think " the human factor" is a new Simon Cowell show

Its safety so its SM.

RE: Autonomous Planes
Tue 18:32
Beef, re your 07:23 (sorry at work) why are autonomous planes ridiculous, the Us military currently train more ucav (unmanned combat aerial vehicle or drones ) pilots than regular ones. civilian airliners already navigate their way around the globe and then routinely land themselves. Airbus claims it has the autonomous technology already, but I agree passengers are not likely to be accepting the idea any time soon. Despite this our aviation division still has an exciting and very lucrative opportunity ahead.

'An option we're hoping makes the order sheet by the time the CT4 bows this fall: Super Cruise. It's confirmed for the V-Series cars, so it seems likely Cadillac will at least offer it on the up-level base cars, as well. Having fallen in love with the early beta version of Tesla Autopilot, I'm eager to get more experience with GM's fully fledged riff on that idea. '
