Miners down
5 Oct '18
Rising bond yields continue to drive a sell-off in equities around the world.

The FTSE 100 has shed 1.1% to 7,336.74 points, with miners among the biggest fallers.

Antofagasta is down 4.6%, while Anglo American and Rio Tinto have lost 3.9% and 3.4% respectively.

RIO has taken a hammering in the last few months after the 52 week high! However, I stuck with it even when it went sub £20 not so long ago! It recovered and then went on to £44! It’s a solid company with a solid dividend!

This is a solid company to hold through thick and thin paying a generous dividend. Other companies may currently have even higher yields but I know that this one is safe. Will keep adding in the event of further SP weakness.

It has fallen 13% from its recent peak of £44 so quite considerable. I would still be cautious as Trump is still causing chaos with talk of trade wars and sanctions.

You'll never buy at the bottom or sell at the top. Fundamentals hold strong, it ain't a small company. It will recover. I always say companies like this as long as it's a sector thing, if they drop 5% in a day ,buy and you'll get it back. Looking at gold too now, there's an opportunity there as well. GL All.

Chance to buy in
15 Aug '18
I think this might be a good opportunity to buy and have done today. Anyone else have ideas on this - Rio always recovers even if it continues to fall. Looking at TA - think it will gain support around 35, though might go as low as 30. Buy back will help and just hope for copper price to recover and globalisation to return......might be a long wait. But Rio remains sound on fundamentals.

We’ve risen nearly £10 since the end of March! If anyone’s out there, what do you see us realistically achieving! Did some research earlier and discovered that we hit nearly £70 per share 10 years ago...wasn’t aware beforehand that Rio had gone so high!
