Hope you’re right Jack. I do imagine the exercise will be MS teams / remote based rather than requiring people physically present which should help us. I’ve been part of Hazops that have lasted 4 hours up to, literally, 2 years. Obviously this will be towards the former end of that spectrum and, hopefully, a largely academic exercise. I just hope there are no significant issues identified as hazops are notorious, and literally designed, to identify such things.
Am I right in saying this is the first time the MSC leandra has actually been mentioned in an RNS ? Can’t remember seeing it before
The parties needed for the hazop will all be present when the ship makes dry dock, don’t see it as a big deal, what is needed is fuel supply announcement which would hopefully coincide with dry docking
Thanks for sharing. Can’t help but be frustrated we’ve not yet done a HazOp and this is now thrown into the mix. I see absolutely no reason why the HazOp needed these test results before being undertaken and why this couldn’t have already been progressed. No doubt when we finally get all the different MSC stakeholders together for the HazOp (not holding my breath this will be anytime soon) there will be some obscure risk mitigation items identified that then need another X months to put in place ahead of any trial going ahead. Honestly couldn’t make it up.
Well I stand corrected and happy to admit I got that wrong. Good news indeed.
Thanks for sharing gribbler
Agreed - slowly chipping away at the obstacles. Hopefully the test results unlock the fuel supply agreement and we see Leandra head to dry dock, then we can all get very excited indeed.
Sounds like everything is lining up for the sea trials,..
There was also some speculation on here that the fuel efficiency data on the website appeared to have been updated and it was questioned whether this was off the back of the Wartsila test results.
IR have confirmed to me that this speculation was previously incorrect, though the latest Wartsila results have now been incorporated.
I just received the following response from IR in respect of further testing required before the MSC trials:
"To clarify, there are no further tests needed prior to MSC trial on bioMSAR™ commencing on the vessel.
The next phase of assessment referred to in the RNS are hazard identification and operability studies, which are done together with Wartsila, MSC and the classification society in advance of the vessel trial for insurance purposes.
The same studies were previously completed for the prior MSAR vessel trial with Maersk, hence we don’t anticipate any surprises now that the recent testing has been completed."
That for me is very good news.
No release on Twitter or LinkedIn as yet, I would expect a proactive interview from Jason after this supposed milestone completion
The trials are not scheduled to start in Q2. MSC vessel preparations are to complete in Q2 so that means the vessel is ready, but what of the fuel supply? It won’t appear overnight , so expect a much later start for lono, most likely late Q4 or beyond.
A positive update, the BB goes to town on the company negatives, and people wonder why the share price failed to rise..
First thing I do on those 7am RNS updates, is check the BB reaction, and if good then I read then RNS, if not I move on to the next RNS.. so many interesting updates in the morning, cant hang around where people are not happy..too many to read..

With the tests an important step to clear the fuel for commercial supply, he said the final round of tests for the planned vessel trials for both MSAR and bioMSAR will progress later this year.
And there you have it.
Yes, another positive step forward along the road and I can't say I'm not disappointed to see the SP not react more positively, especially as nearly all today's trades appear to be at the offer price, (buys). But, I suppose this SP never fails to confound me.
Unless they have knowledge of major financial backers waiting in the wings, the BoD must be aware further fund raising through LTSH is likely to be a huge failure. They really need to get Morocco over the line sharpish, with a commercial contract agreed and supplier arranged by end June IMO...
I was afraid that with the testing is something wrong, but I’m glad to hear the last brick in the wall standing. From my view we have proven economical, technical…. Aspects of new product.
Now is just the finish line waiting and we have to cross it. It will not be easy, but I always say, for success you have to bleed. And I bleed out -60% :D, and my patience was on the edge… Now please bring the product to commercialisation, so we all can start to talk abbaut dividends.
The RNS could have announced that the Bio MSAR test emissions failed to meet required levels and poor power to consumption ratio's and engine wear was to great no longer making it viable, but it didnt, it was quite the opposite, it's a step in the right direction a small one but a critical one and im a bit happier today.
"Other companies just seem to mix some new fuel every other week on a lab bench and then throw it in an engine to test without all the tests, delays, exploring and other carp we constantly seem to go through."
That may be how you run your own business to stick some fuel in your family lawnmower but if you want a fuel that can be used globally they have to meet internationally recognised specifications, adhere to international chemical regulations, adhere to international Health & safety regulations, etc otherwise nobody will use it, as their insurance would be void.
No. They are likely to announce its completion though.
Are QFI likely to announce start of Moroccan testing, as that must be due very soon, maybe Monday RNS...
When,,Mmmm... ahead of commercial vessel testing
"with hazard identification and operability studies now scheduled ahead of commercial vessel testing on the MSC Leandra"
So maybe before, and alongside Msar vessel testing ??
Exactly HF14 are tests scheduled to start, or do we fall to the back of the queue and have to wait 3 months and then another few months testing. Easily takes us to Q4 at that rate.
The Qfi board need to understand that if they want money in a fund raise, you have to deliver something concrete. Not more tests, more delays. Other companies just seem to mix some new fuel every other week on a lab bench and then throw it in an engine to test without all the tests, delays, exploring and other carp we constantly seem to go through.
Deliver Something Qfi. Hello can you hear us out there.
That has to be the million dollar question HF. Leandra sat at Durban, should have sailed by now
Hazard identification is simply risk assessment, not really any need to disclose this as it’s mandatory for any task let alone a new trial. Operability studies will be copy and paste of the Msar studies of 2017
The question is when will this testing start and how long will it take.
Continue to note the lack of movement in the share price in response to ostensibly positive news. This isn't actually a bad thing (not obviously a good thing!). It simply means the market is waiting to have commercial agreement documents signed and money flowing in. At that point the share price will move dramatically to where we want it to be. There should be no expectation of significant share price movement in advance of this.
