Guys - its me again - the bloke who saw £150k disappear (no)thanks to the numbskulls at Equitable Life. If I 've learned two things in life (and I've spent more than my fair share of (wasted) time in the courts) its these:
1. Never sue or pursue someone or something who hasn't got any money because if they are truly skint, then whilst a claim may go in your favour it will only be a moral victory and you will walk away out of pocket nonetheless
2. No one EVER makes money when they shake hands with a lawyer ... so you can send Carlton all the dosh you like but even for them no. 1 above applies and they can take your £750 and tell you what I'm telling you for free.
Apart from that, I wish you all the best in your pursuit of this rainbow ..
I don't have a plan aside from accepting the loss incurred with POG. Let’s see if any legal action goes ahead…….
Walter mitty me thinks.. tell us your big plan CW, think before you tell me
Just my opinion. Fully entitled to it.
CW u seem to be a boy in the know.. so whats your plan.. just talking eehhh???
Carlton Huxley are looking to make a tidy little sum for collating the information etc before passing it to another legal party.
Personally think they’ll sweep up and that’ll be the end of it.
Fishguru
yes, I agree with your post... Then the hurdle remains how to convince a legal firm to take up our case?... That's our challenge.... I guess we got to just keep approaching legal firms until one will listen to us?
If a legal company did take this on and were getting a % of recovered monies then they would advertise the fact and get as many people to join the claim as possible.
Paying this £1000 to first have case reviewed by an outside firm would not be needed.
I understand 13 January Is the deadline for bringing joining CARLTON HUXLEY a legal group action at a discounted rate. But does anyone reading this know if there is a legal time limit to bringing a similar action? Is there an expiring time deadline after which you lose the right to bring a legal action? I guess it will also depend on the precise charge and its level of seriousness?
Today message from CARLTON HUXLEY:
“To recap
Our role is to help you come together and get your communal evidence documented so that you can try to recover your money.
our role is to collect your information and supporting documents to establish whether or not you have an individual claim which can be grouped with other similar claimants.
There is a standard fee of £750 plus VAT per person for our service.
When the company was solvent, the directors had to run it for the benefit of the shareholders.
Once the company was insolvent the shareholders interest were replaced by the creditors.
There is a question as to whether or not, the company is/was insolvent.
In most insolvency shareholders are not creditors of the company. However, there are some circumstances where that can be changed. I’m not saying those circumstances exist here because without us doing investigation, I just don’t know what is one of the things that we want to be looking at.
We have consulted with an experienced top-level law firm in London who have expressed an interest.
We have also consulted with a number of potential litigation funders with regards funding further actions. There is interest but At this stage no funder can commit because we simply do not have sufficient information to make a proper sensible funding request.
The more of you that are on board the bigger the value of a potential claim and the higher the claim value the easier it is to fund. PLEASE NOTE I USE THE TERM EASIER TO FUND VERY ADVISABLY.
If you are interested in being part of the groups then please email pog@carltonhuxley.com with your name, how many shares you hold, when you bought and how much you paid.
The cut off date is tomorrow Friday 13 January 2023.
Next week we will start engaging people and doing the obligatory AML / KYC checks.
You have to be in to win. Sitting on the sidelines hoping you might be able to profit later will not work.
If you decide to join after tomorrow you will be charge the full price of £1,500 + VAT
Once everyone is engaged we will not take anymore clients.”
Yes it appears that once you’ve paid CH £750 they are then passing it into another legal firm to deal with IF they think it’s worthwhile.
Personally think it’s just another scam to fleece the already injured party.
I understand a decision is being made this Friday 13/01 to establish if enough share holders have registered their interest with pog@carltonhuxley.com
Does anyone have an approximate count, if an earlier thread was established to gauge interest amongst investors?
Forgive me for being lazy and not searching through old threads.
It occurred to me ten minutes ago that all this Carlton Huxley business has been nothing but a diversion. really if ex old bill do find wrongdoings even though they won't have access to any meaningful Opus documentation , but if they do what do we do then ? I was one of the five who went to the high court and two days later I was barred from the telegram group by two particular people based on a load of *******s that I would jeopardise the details of a court case that were revealed already by opus. So I have had no clue as to what went on with the carlton Huxley stuff even though I've heard dribs and drabs what I will say though is my total ban came about because I dered question the self syled leader of the group when she made a post saying that vseveral people had been told the FCA were investigating I asked to see these emails and also called the FCA and of course it was lies. Off course with Telegram whoever set up the group has sole control over the group and once banned, even thought reinstated all the history of posts are wiped out. how can you run a disparate collection of share holders together by threats and stalinist methods expunging converstatioms that didn't suit you. Thinking about things tonight I think the whole thing has been a waste of time and has further weakened share holders resolve. There have been lists made of share holder made but those reside with one or two telegram leaders . So what happens if the two dictators decide to close the group, where will share holders rally then. We still have LSE but for how long?
No I feel our target should have been this conservative government they put POG in a situation that made it so easy to steal the company with a cloak of legitimacy. Our government is charged to protect British business and citizens they are the primary cause of our losses. We need to regroup and challenge this government and hold the bastards accountable , it's they who should be serving us instead of treating us like lepers . The ****ers need to be told to get their finger out
You didn't ask me but here is mine. 1.7m shares at purchase cost 180k . I have run out of steam at the moment and as far as I can see it there are three groups to claim from:
Opus
HM current government the Conservatives
Possibly Russia if Putin is disposed as He Setchin , akimov and the NoD were behind the steal
Thinking about it the company being British the BoD who deliberately run the company7 to a low share price and then connived to literally give it to Russia should be tried in the UK and imprisoned. The BoD never once sought sanction relief , not once. Our own government is culpable of sabotaging POG and consciously letting the Russian crooks steal it from the UK. So far our government haven't lifted a finger to help alleviate the losses we incurred: here is my MP's last email response to me
"Dear Lawrence,
Thank you for your kind email. I’m afraid, we can only suggest that you consider taking independent legal advice on what steps are currently available to you.
I hope you have a nice Christmas and New Year.
Kind regards,
Tom Guyton-Day
Constituency Caseworker
Office of Sally-Ann Hart MP"
Moving on :
I now feel that although strukov is a crook and when he purchased his 21% his plan was a takeover by ensuring Pavel was locked away, he too may have come foul of the steal losing his entire stake, yet he stays silent....why? At first I thought he'd get his money and invest6ment back another route and that may still be the case. Prosperity lost a 8% holding and they too are strangely silent. Maybe they are keeping their powder dry until a possible regime change.

thanks for this very interesting info... I have sent my email... If you don't mind, just as a comparison my loss is approx 1.5 million shares. How much is yours?
Ii have been hit by this incredible simple idea... (Few of us are still looking for some kind of fightback. However most investors both private and institutional have given up and accepted their losses as such... My idea is to either set up a charity or use and existing charity fund and we all donate our holdings to the charity. The charity would then use any clawback to further its won charitable aims (be it helping homeless people or saving the last elephant butterfly or any other of the million things existing charities do. If we all donate our Pog stocks to this Charity, it would become a very substantial holder. As a single substantial holder it would be in the best position to legally fight for any compensation or any wrongdoings... Of course we would have to find a Charity who'd love such a challenge... We are not going to get anything back but at least we get someone on the dock...What have we got to lose?

..." if I can survive EL, then you can survive POG ..."... maybe you should try to look at this from another angle... some of us are not trying to survive, we are trying to get our money back HOWEVER IMPOSSIBLE IT MAY SEEM OR ACTUALLY IS....
My loss is fairly small. Some years ago I was involved in trying to get money after the Fortune Oil take over, but no luck. I will pass on the proposed legal action and just accept my losses.
There are so many shareholders are taking action to try and recover their losses through the legal services of Carlton Huxley ltd in London.
This will only benefit the people who join and represented by the legal services of Carlton Huxley ltd ,and NOT others.
If you are interested then write to the legal firm for details…

I confess to being about £10k in the red because of POG, and I also confess to dreaming every night that Putrid drinks a cup of polonium coffee one morning for his breakfast ... but: some 15 years ago I saw my £250k pot in Equitable Life chewed away by incompetent idiots within the company and useless FCA mis-management. Suffice to say, I was left with £100k for my pension (yes - I 'lost' £150k!!) but - why am I posting this? Simply because - I'm still here!
I started throwing everything from EL in the bin until one day I saw 'Compensation' on the letter. I opened it to find my 'compensation' was ... £0 !!! So my attitude to POG is this - yes I'm taking a hit .. but I'm still alive. Yes, I know my POG 'hit' is nothing compared to the losses of others, but if I can survive EL, then you can survive POG ...

Heard anything from Opus or elsewhere?
if there are limitations on request we should orchestrate accordingly. what are the questions we need to ask and then designate those limited question questions so we don#t ask twice
I was told in an unrelated PM from OPUS there would be no funds for shareholders. Unless some surprise happens it doesn't look good; I don't believe the events that led to the firesale are a pure Russia play and that people are complicit our side of the border...
If anyone is interested in trying to find out how many shareholders in UK and Russia were affected, I have found an email with the insolvency service. There are limits on requesting data, so I could do with someone else asking.

Has anyone attended recent court hearings? I note the website has been updated with a scheme of arrangement, seems that this is largely dealing with secured creditors. Has anyone had confirmation from Opus of a nil return to shareholders or otherwise.
