Honda Fuel Cell Motorcycle

Honda Patents Fuel Cell Motorcycle

Honda, in collaboration with Toyota and Nissan, is at work on advancing fuel cell technology for both cars and motorcycles. The partners, along with venture capital firms and energy companies, have adopted Japan’s “Strategic Road Map for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells.”

According to the German publication Motorrad, the plan was created by the Council for a Strategy for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells, an industry body organized by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry. The Japanese government hopes to put 40,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles on the road and increase the number of hydrogen fueling stations in the to 160 by 2020. The new enterprise, founded by Honda but as yet unnamed, will be responsible for 80 new filling stations within the next four years.

Honda has yet to show a prototype of the fuel cell two-wheeler, but the accompanying patent application drawings indicate their direction. They show a standard sportbike configuration – perimeter frame, telescopic fork, shaft drive, etc. – with a hydrogen fuel cell housed under the seat. The fuel delivery system combines hydrogen with oxygen from the air, over a catalyst, to create electricity for the motor. The only byproduct is water.

Fuel cell platform for German Autos
Sat 11:35
Germany has decided to invest in a fuel cell project in which PowerCell participates

Gothenburg, Sweden, December 15, 2017--PowerCell Sweden AB (publ) has received a final decision from the German authorities about the AutoStack-Industrie (ASI) project. In the project, Germany is aiming to develop a fuel cell platform for the German automotive industry.

The German Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure has decided to finance the AutoStack-Industrie cutting edge project. As previously communicated, PowerCell is one of the project’s partners, together with BMW, Daimler, Ford and Volkswagen, as well as subcontractors. For PowerCell, the decision entails an additional EUR 3.1 million for the first phase of the project.

The announcement was expected and pleasing. The decision means that we, together with German vehicle manufacturers and subcontractors, can develop a platform for fuel cell technology that provides the basis for a large-scale production of hydrogen powered cars, says Per Ekdunge, CTO for PowerCell Sweden and CEO of PowerCell’s German subsidiary.

PowerCell manages two of ASI’s subprojects. One includes the construction of the fuel cell stack and the other develops the technology that enables mass production of fuel cell stacks.

The ASI project facilitates the commercialization of fuel cell technology in the automotive industry. Since fuel cells generate electricity without emissions other than water, the project represents a major step towards a sustainable transport sector, concludes Per Ekdunge.

More H2 Stations
Sat 11:29
After a long and challenging journey, the hydrogen station at Høvik has cleared all hurdles and is ready to accept hydrogen cars.

The station is well situated next to Høvik Church, and is very easy to get to via access from E18 and Sandviksveien. From the east, drive from E18 to Høvik and follow Høviksvingen and Sandviksveien past Høvik church.

The hydrogen station at Høvik will add a new dimension to the hydrogen stations in Sweden.

I would say costello's question was very fair.

So far all we have is a very small scale protoype being fed on a diet of tyre crumb in between periods of starvation . I have not seen any data to support how much hydrogen it is capable of producing. Verified data is quite different to comment from KA.

Newboy- your insults are seemngly drevive by a lack of quality sleep as this must be keeping you up at night as the share price drifts ever lower, despite the massive global potential which you and your cohorts continue to pump out daily.

The likes of costello are in the majority not you.

Hydrogen

How much hydrogen does one of these machines produce. Probably not enough to be commercially viable. A mirage that's what is being produced. Good for burning rubbish. Provided of course the machine doesn't burn out.

Down.

Down again. And here's people talking drivel about Hondas. This share has halved in just over one month. I'm afraid there's a placing or worse a Sphere.
As I've said before if this was such a good idea it would have been snapped up.
Methinks there's something rotten about this mirage. And I'm well in here.
