Sounds logical. They were also off loading AEG. And yes they started when AEG was on all times low. Would be great to see Ruffer finishing off loading here before any news but I have no idea how many they've got left.

I picked this information up from Twitter, see below - it seems almost certain what is happening here, when a fund or institutional investor investment breaches a stop loss, or falls below a certain market value, they sell, plain and simple. !t offers the small guy a chance to make decent money. once out they are out, the stock price rises.

'Having worked for nearly 12 years on a trading floor my best guess for funds selling would be because of breaching their stop/loss. Risk dept. Won't care if traders think it'll bounce or 20 bag next day. Rules are rules. Seen it many times before'

True, but if they don't delay it anymore, we've got only couple of weeks to wait. And I believe it's well worth it. In the meantime we should hear about new CFO. I don't think it's going to fall much/if any lower so will get some funs freed up and top up early next week.

This week!!!

I know how frustrating it can be when you think something is about to blow and another week rolls on by. Up, down, left or right the fundamentals remain the same. Those who stick around, will be rewarded. For what it’s worth, (and I’ve been in MTL for a VERY long time) this was an absolute no brainer for me at 6p in 2016, at 1p it’s fill your boots time. Good luck to all. Enjoy the weekend and keep the faith. Jamie

RE: Ruffer

There are rules and rules on declarations - sometimes a declaration is not made until the seller has continued selling a tranche of stock, I have seen one TR1 saying 8%-7%-6%-5% had been sold, clearly each 1% was not at the time declared. I also believe there is another rule should the seller come from overseas.

The point I am making is that Ruffer may have sold more than we think, by not declaring each 1% does not mean hey have not sold more stock.

When the likes of Ruffer want out they just sell, the price never seems to matter, this therefore represents an opportunity for the small guy. I picked up a large tranche of stock when the 70m sub .40p seller dumped, happily sold those above 1.5p.

I will be adding if this drops further, the company is de-risked somewhat from the .45p attained a few months ago, I re-iterate I feel .80p-1p is the new .45p

Agree with your thinking you also need to take into account the 65million shares dumped by whoever that crashed the sp to .4 in the first place likely that a reasonable amount are in sticky hands I took another 2mill and I know others have more but they had to churn through to get the so rising again so likely a fair amount went to short term traders who are probably offloading in addition to ruffer. They seem to be pretty on the ball when it comes to disclosing though at least have been in the other aim stocks they are offloading

Ruffer
Thu 16:26
Certainly been some hefty purchases the last few days and mostly the buys and sells seem to have been pretty evenly matched; so it's annoying to the share price drifting, but I guess that's the way the MMs make money and will mint it should we get the good news we're waiting for.

Just some thoughts on Ruffer:

1. since their confirmed sale of 3mn on the 25/1, there have been approx. 125mn share transactions. From what I've seen, most days buys and sells have been fairly evenly matched, so we can say with a bit of confidence there's been maybe in the range of 50 - 75mn sales during the period.

2. We know that Ruffer had 101mn shares following the holdings RNS, equating to 4.91% of the entire stock.

3. As I understand current AIM rules, they should be disclosing every time they cross a percentage boundary above and inclusive of 3%.

4. Their next boundary would be 4%; with 0.91% gap, this equates to approx. 19mn shares and to get to 3%, approx. 40mn shares.

With at least 50mn likely sales since last notification, this makes me think that Ruffer is not the main driving force behind the fall in the share price, as I'd expect them to have easily offloaded 19mn by now if this is their strategy. All this of course, does assume they're notifying correctly.

More likely, I think we're just seeing the normal AIM pattern of day traders or profit hunters getting fed up of a share, as well as some stop-losses being taken out.

I'd rather think it was Ruffer off-loading, as it suggests once they're done we will go up, but I feel this may just be wishful thinking on my (and others') part. Although maybe we'll get another holdings RNS soon which will show the wishful thinking to be correct!

In any case, I'm still patient, and am hoping for the news flow to start again soon. Reminds of the first couple of weeks of January when we were in a similar position after the finance RNS and had a similar drift - wished I'd topped up then, so may put some more in soon before the expected good news.

Agree 100%, this is Ruffer offering packets of shares to the market, say 0.9p or so and the market makers just offer at 1p and fill the order, I’m just surprised they don’t hold back to let things settle and start selling at a higher point in the future, but at the end of the day, this is a fantastic opportunity to get back in, or take a position if you haven’t, or increase your position, the lower the price is, the quicker Ruffers shares change hands, as long as current investors don’t lose sight of the goal, and sell out, you will definitely regret that in 6 weeks or less, there absolutely nothing stopping MTL releasing a refinancing deal at any point in time between now and before the end of March, we dont know how progressed talks on this subject, we may already have the mine processing at full speed, perhaps another stream of finance is agreed from a third party, all I do know is we have exciting tones ahead, I’m here for the journey, been here over 2 years and just keep collecting shares, catch a falling star and put them in their pocket.(recent Share Prophet advice) :-)

I think they market makers are dropping this purely as a result of Ruffer who seem to be wanting out - it represents an opportunity - my guess is the current circa 1p is the new .45p of a few months ago. We know brave (at the time) buyers tripled their money in quick tome buying in then, my guess it will be the same now.

A move from 1p to 1.5p-1.6p is entirely possible in quick time, no doubt speculators/traders will soon return. A potential 50% gain is not to be sniffed at.

Opportunity
Wed 20:54
I’m still here, taking a peep on the evenings only, I know it’s always painful when the share price recedes, and you have to ask yourself should I have sold out by now? Well remember why your invested, if you remind your self that we’re part of a business that’s transforming in the back ground, we don’t find out just how much that is week to week and you can start to doubt your reasons for buying in, the share price had no relation to our business position, this drop is an opportunity to increase your holding, Ruffers selling is the biggest reason for the lack of progress, they stifled the rise on the fantastic news we have had recently, going bust is off the cards and yet the share price looks like we are, I would have preferred Ruffer to dump in one go, hit us with selling 70 million in one go, they would get snapped up in a day @ 0.5p, then upwards and onwards, I urge investors not to sell out, it’s a very temporary position we’re in, Ruffer will pass their shares to sticky hand investors over the coming weeks, any one buying on this fall will come good in as little as 6 weeks, I am utterly confident on that, if you can afford to pump in even more cash, I honestly feel it’s an opportunity, we’re all buying at levels that simply don’t reflect the business, key points: we have over a $billion in value of gold over 8 years at full production, that’s half a $billion profit after costs, we have further lands in ownership to explore at the current site with potential to increase the life of mine by decades, we have proven supportive major share holders, we have successful proven management, and all this at 1p gives us a market cap of just £20 million, come on guys, that’s plain stupid, but as I said it’s an opportunity, selling out is just crazy, look beyond this dip and keep hold of your shares, this is not me ramping, it’s me telling you how it is, risk is smaller than it’s ever been in 12 years, yet the share price is hanging around the lowest in 12 years. Hold and ADD, won’t be long before the facts are out we have turned the corner, higher production and new finance terms, a surprise buyout is very possible at any moment, that would be at multiples of the crazy share price, if your out, you will miss out, so I advise to chill and use this opportunity to your long term benefit.

Ruffer sells MTL
Wed 20:03
Just a reminder. On 28th Jan Ruffer announced that they had sold down their original shareholding of 9% down to 'below 5%'. That meant they probably had about 100m shares to sell. Maybe some are being sold off market but this is a lot to be sold before the price starts to go up again. Just hope it's done before the next RNS update!

It will still go back to 2-3p on refinancing and higher with production at 100%.
We just have to be a bit more patient unfortunately.

10% down has become a daily routine. Should see a blue day or two after CFO news. Still most of us were expecting to see it at 2-3p before financing. Now, just like you, I'm hoping it stays above 1p.

How low can she go, that is the question!
It'll be a sad day when this dips back under 1p.

Will pick up again in March, we may as well just hibernate until then.

Appreciate the advice I do, don't really need to be reminded of the positives as already know of that otherwise wouldn't buy in the first place, over at EUA it's more the Palladium side of things and is of more value than gold but that don't stop the share price falling either, I'm entitled to think I've jumped from one share caller to another if that's what's happened, I'm sure it will pick up here and hope we'll all be quid in. Happy days ahead....??

I mean if you want to sell then go ahead and sell. Some sellers might have been those that bought in at 0.4-0.8 range and sold at a profit, good on them if they did.

Im not familiar with EUA but here at MTL we have a gold reserve of 1.4bn and are currently producing and selling gold (not as much as we’d like admittingly, but previous rns releases confirm biox will be getting ramped up to increase production)

I would reccomend those with doubts to dyor and read through company website, rns releases and even this forum (through dec/jan where knowledgable lth provided plenty of evidence with posts) - every share has element of risk vs reward, at these prices its a absolute no brainer for me (it might not be for you)

That said, i think like Lee il take a back seat and stay off the forum for a while as it does take up too much time - will give myself an allowance of 5 posts a week maybe haha!

R1 - I think Adam and Jack have given some useful advice and a good reminder of the positives here.

The main bull points are, some as Adam said - 1) New experienced CEO and team, 2) ability to ramp up operations markedly to meet debt obligations short-term and turn a good profit long-term, 3) reasonable quarterly update, given recent problems, but plenty of potential to improve, 4) supportive shareholders and lenders.

The main bear points are, 1) short-term uncertainty over refinancing, 2) previous issues at mine (ie. potential to be rectified?), 3) dependence on major shareholders to keep up with loan repayments.

I think those of us who have been in since the pre-Christmas dip (and before in the case of CV, Pharma, et al.) are fairly reassured of the bull points and like Adam said see an opportunity, especially on dips, to improve our position here, given how undervalued we believe it is at present and the likelihood of good news flow (the likelihood being the rumour). However, any position comes with risk and with the present uncertainty, it may be that it does dip and test previous lows, which was alluded to by the BSRT February note.

I find this BB really helpful for exchanging views, facts and information and we benefit from the knowledge of several LTHs. Unusually for these BBs, my experience has been that most posters don't try to ramp or de-ramp. Ultimately, we all have to make our minds up about the risk/reward profile of a share ourselves from various sources of information about which we need to make a judgement regarding the credibility. I'm sure like many others, I find I ascribe more credibility to posts if they are substantiated with more detailed evidence or facts, for example, and there are a good many examples of such posts if you look back.

As for myself, I'm happy with my position here and I'm sure with a little patience your position will also prove to be rewarding, if you remain happy with the risk-reward profile.

R1 i never mentioned a single person having an effect on the sp. What i did say was the mentality of selling through fear is what the mm’s prey on and that does have an effect on the sp. Share price right now is irrelevant to me, i was only trying to offer advice to you. Nothing has changed from a few days ago when we were sat on bid at 1.60 given we knew an extension to the 31/3/19 had been requested, yet we now find ourselves on 1.00!

On a seperate note - What i will say is sp is currently moving on buys/sells (small ones at that) yesterday there was around 3.5m sold and share price took a 15% dive - there are plenty who read the forum (even if they dont post) including me (duh!) and i alone hold nearly 3.5m so of course if a holder like me was influenced to sell it would affect the share price given its current volatility, not that i ever would. Some people mainly those new to the game are influenced by what they read, even when not on official chanels like rns releases, company website etc.

Adam to you really think what one person says on a bb has an affect with mm's? Don't believe that for one minute...please don't be one of them.

Jack, thanks for that advice but not sure i get that, rumours...if I went on all the rumours by rampers for any share then I'd be bankrupt by now, I've heard many rumours in the past that come to nothing, just rampers 99% of the time.

R1 its exactly that mentality the mm’s seek to prey on, and those confident in the company such as me get to buy more at ridiculously cheap prices.

Firstly when we were at 0.50 there was imminent threat of default, no ceo and no updates to paint a picture of whats going on in the background.

Since then we’ve appointed a vastly experienced ceo who has the backing of major shareholders, changes at boardroon level (with more to come), changes at operational level (with a new plant manager among others), a corporate update, ceo has stated he believes he can turn things around quickly, biox running in a stable manner (hopefully with production ramped up v soon if not done so already), among plenty of other positives.

If the price does happen to drop because some sellers continue to give their shares away for nothing then those fortunate enough with spare pennies that take advantage and top up.

I have had similar experience with EUA, I bought in at positive news and bullish investors and bought in two or three times when kept dropping trying to average down my losses and ended up losing patience selling at a loss giving up, mainly due to positive news doing nothing for the share price, seems I've done the same here with this share, bought in three times now and still falling daily, does get frustrating trying to get this right but then we'd all be rich if could do that, feel experiencing the same with MTL now so maybe im jinxed lol. With no more news till few months time im dreading this going to around 0.50 then MAYBE reach the 1.30 of which I bought in at on the news so basically back to square one, patience is not in my side especially when keep dropping when outlook is positive. Argghhhh
