guess we wont be seeing you on here again then, Bye.
I was disappointed yesterday to see the shares hit a 6-month low. I had a 20% trailing stop loss set which automatically
triggered the sale of my shares. I don't have a massive holding, it represented around 5% of my portfolio.
I struggled to understand what had happened so I dropped on a couple of chat forums. I was not happy to see bullying allegations.
I investigated further and looked at the original source. A review posted on glass door on Christmas Eve.
I was shocked at what I read and the Howdens response was to say the least inadequate.
If I had seen that then I would have sold then. The shares have only gone in one direction since that posting.
Overnight one sentence has haunted me "one event was so evil, so vile, so disgusting it could not be ignored"
It appears that this manager is being protected by the HR department, supported by the legal department and who knows
what the intervention of the Investor Relations Department achieved. We have to ask what is going on? The two main
allegations are that of racism and bullying I can now add a third bringing the company in to disrepute. In my company each of these alone
are subject to instant dismissal on grounds of gross misconduct. Here we have one manager with all three allegations against them. A real "Holly Trinity"
Howdens need to deal with this maybe reporting themselves to the equalities commission to distance themselves from what has happened.
I will not be replacing my shares any time soon.
Dont think your 1 bitter ex employee review on glassdoor is going to drive share prices
Another two weeks of stock losses.
Since the public reports appeared of racial bullying shareholders have lost over £400 million.
The infamous letter from Howdens legal department saying bullying was acceptable behaviour, it now appears, was only sent after the intervention of Howdens own investor relations department.
This letter was sent to a shareholder not an employee.
The board supported by the investor relations department seem happy to let shareholders pay the price for a rotten core element within the business.
This year’s AGM will be an interesting meeting.
Oh for hindsight.
dunno I broke my crystal ball, is yours working.
Could this be a good time to buy ?.
Sounding more & more like a bitter ex employee. Probably better if you take this somewhere else
Since the abuse report hit www.glassdooor.com the share price has dropped over 15% the media is full of these stories Howdens need to stop defending the indefensible, stop blaming the victim. They should hold a full investigation The shares are now in free fall over 1% off (again) already today
I'm looking forward to the end of February to see the final results for 2021 (which will be outstanding). We'll also get an update of how the year has started and early indications of the outlook for 2022
New products, advertising campaigns, new technology, capital expenditure on production, logistics & branch network. Share buy back, dividends.
So much to look forward to with Howden and I'm targeting £10+ this year

Member since October 2018 with posts ?. Should we be concerned ?.
In this climate, in these times, reports of racial bullying and institutional racism are being voiced and heard in more and more places.
One of the country’s largest recruitment web sites www.glassdoor.co.uk has a heartbreaking report of such an incident. The bullying and abuse (the report says) was instigated by a middle manager, it was fully supported by the HR department and vigorously defended in writing by the Howdens legal department. This is a massive stain on their reputation. Howdens response on www.glassdoor.co.uk is: - “this makes difficult reading” It does appear that the middle manager was supported and kept his job!
Should shareholders be concerned by such reports on respected websites or is it a factored in cost of doing business?
TV ads are great, well considered and should increase further awareness of the brand, something which is important as Howdens has the potential to jump into the FTSE100 for the first time.
Thats a first , just watched a Howdens advert on prime time tv. Never seen one before.
Same to you Boracic. Looking forward to what should be another great year for Howdens. With anew marketing campaign starting and proof that they have the systems and processes to deliver whilst others are struggling Howdens are ideally positioned to continue to grow. I'm not sure when the FTSE100 gets a re-shuffle but I look forward to them jumping in and the additional exposure that will bring.
Not many of us post on here but I wish all LTH a very Happy Christmas and a healthy New Year .

Looking forward the next set of results. Howdens should be a FTSE100 company in 2022 which will open up a whole new range of investors.
Good points Accieslad. Howdens have plowed a huge amount of financial investment over previous years into their supply chain and operations and that strategy is clearly paying off now. Nice to see the Euro rate favourable again which will helps Howdens which continues to source product from Euro zone as well as a strong UK production operation.
There have been store upgrades, investments in IT and production, new stores opening, new product ranges, pension scheme changes and more. Progressive & imaginative management taking an already successful company to the next level. More than happy to have Howden in my portfolio
I wonder how much cash is sat there in the bank of Howden. Surely has to be close to £500m.
Profit expectations are towards the top end of expectations which when you consider the trading conditions is incredible.
Looking very good for the rest of the year . Solid Company .
Good time to top up Accieslad and I hope for you that the £2bn is reached this year as that would smash your £10 target - lets wait and see. Agree France now looks strong, new director of operations clearly having an impact and I expect this will be a huge potential market for Howdens once model roll out picks up pace.
Lots of people I talk are having Howdens kitchens fitted as builders have being having difficulty sourcing them from else where, somehow Howdens have managed to keep their supply chains wide open. Very impressive.
